Title: Any Superbowl Fans Out There? Post by BarbaraD on Jan 30th, 2006, 7:06am Who's going to host the Superbowl party????? I'm betting on the Seahawks... (Never been a fan of the Steelers). We're having a family Superbowl party (annual thingy). Everyone makes something that favors a football game. I'm making the football cheese ball (too neat to eat, but for some reason everyone does!). Someone always "insists" there be alcoholic beaverages included (imagine that!) so it gets pretty wild before the 4th quarter. And then there's the football pot I'm planning to win this year.. What are you guys doing???? Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Any Superbowl Fans Out There? Post by Dave_Emond on Jan 30th, 2006, 11:26am Pittsburgh by 17 (or more) ... In fact any AFC playoff team, plus a few who didn't make it (San Diego, Kansas City, etc.) would wipe out any team in the NFC in a Superbowl title shot. Think about Seattle's Division ... freebie wins! The rest of their schedule was almost the easiest in the whole league. The NFC had their years, but they are long gone, anyone who can make the Superbowl coming through the AFC is going to be way too tough for any AFC team. JMHO, Dave ;) |

Title: Re: Any Superbowl Fans Out There? Post by sandie99 on Jan 30th, 2006, 12:46pm I checked: our channel MTV3 is going to broadcast Superbowl on Sunday. There will be 2 pre programmes, then the game broadcast begins at 00.50 on Monday morning. And they are going to show the game again on Monday at 9.30-12.30. Too bad I have lectures on Monday, so it's either watch it live or miss it. So, I'll be up! ;;D |

Oh ... they have something in the AFC ... it's called defense! Who wins Superbowls? We all know. I'm going to keep my shirt and ExplodingEyeBall is going to make 25 cents on two Safeties! ;) Tell ya what ... I've got several OUCH Shirts, I'll take Pitt and bet against ya one of those shirts ... what do you have to bet against that straight up? (Straight up considering your confidence ... LOL!) Come on now ... back it up! ;;D Not losing a shirt here [smiley=laugh.gif] Dave |

Title: Re: Any Superbowl Fans Out There? Post by burnt-toast on Jan 31st, 2006, 5:28pm Lets See.... Regular Season - Seattle played in a division where it's divisional opponents won just 15 of their 48 games. Seattle played only 5 games against teams with winning records and lost two of these games. Dallas – the only 3 / 4 defense Seattle played against held them to their lowest point total (13) of the season. They only got their final three points and won due to an interception/return of a absurd Bledsoe pass with 5 seconds left in a game that was tied 10 / 10. Combined regular season opponent records 95 / 113. Playoffs Washington – 10/6 - Defensively solid - Offense virtually non-existent the entire season - Washington wouldn't even have made the playoffs if they were in the AFC. Hard to believe a truly one-dimensional team could make the playoffs even in the NFC. Carolina 11/5 defense reasonably solid - Offense limited to a good quarterback and 1 outstanding wide receiver, subsidized by a 4th string running back. Carolina never makes the playoffs if it is in the AFC and is easy target for any reasonably good defense. Now Seattle faces the best 3 / 4 defense in the NFL – it isn’t going to be easy for Seattle to run or pass against the most complicated/well-disguised defensive schemes they have seen and have never played against. Offensively Pittsburgh has proven it has balance (finally). When opponents crowd the line of scrimmage and put 8 men up, the secondary gets burned or is exposed to quick passes in front of the secondary. Drop into coverage and the holes open up for a dangerous running game. Cincinnati 11/5, Indianapolis 14/2, and Denver 13/3 all teams with very productive/ well-balanced offensive attacks and outstanding defenses were thoroughly confused and physically outplayed on both sides of the ball and these teams were familiar with the Steelers. Good night Seattle – Pittsburgh Steelers 28; Seattle Seahawks 10. Tom |

Broncos have a solid team on both sides of the ball. Offensive/defensive lines are already up there with the best in the league and will only get better. Great running game that wil get even better and good team chemestry. A little tweak in the secondary and another solid receiver would be fantastic, but I don't think T.O. is that receiver. There are always great players who run their mouths but respect their teams and fellow players. T.O. doesn't. Why a few very talented players believe they are more important than the team when they play a true team sport is beyond me. One player with an attitude like T.O.'s can break a team, but seldom helps the team achive success. Count on this - when the chips are down and the team needs to pull together.... T.O. will be bad mouthing the coaching staff, quarter back and/or the focus on a running game for not getting him the ball. Afterall the only reason they lost the last game is because they didn't give me enough touches. Not sure why they are even considering him given how disruptive he's been throughout his career. Let some desperate team pick up T.O. I hope Denver doesn't ruin a team that I believe will be in the Super Bowl in the very near future. Tom |

Title: Re: Any Superbowl Fans Out There? Post by Jimmy B. on Feb 1st, 2006, 10:17am Your right there...Tom. Being an Eagle fan, I found it amazing how in the course of a few weeks...T.O. could turn a perennial playoff team into a nightmare. Whatever team gets him...will have a great year, in his 1st year...but as soon as a team mate or coach says or does something he doesn't like...or he finds another player that makes more then him...he will tear down that team. If Mariucci or Reid couldn't control him...you can be pretty sure no other coach can, either. The best thing that could happen, is for a team to take him for an upfront loaded 1 or 2 year contract. Look out for them Eagles, next year. Yo! Jimmy |
