Title: About My Quote
Post by Jimi on Jan 25th, 2006, 12:29am
Dave E has mentioned the quote at the bottom of all my posts and how much that has meant to him. It is only a line from something I got from Chuck Swindoll. Here is the rest of it.

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.”

I posted this on my refrigerator years ago. It spoke to me as well. And so it goes..........

Wow Jimi!
Nice find! Actually better that you saw the significance in those words. I too will copy this whole thought and place it where I can see it each day. I try to keep words of wisdom or support around me that I can see and hope to follow everyday. These forms of support come in so many ways: Your tag line (and now the rest of it), postcards from Svenn, cards from Lizzie (ASB), signs with sayings in frames, and recently the post our sweet Elaine put up here for us.
Phone calls and letters from friends here (even if I can't always answer when I'd like to) ... got a call from our good friend Rex today, he's hurting bad, CH attacks relentless. (We both had to cut our talk short as we both got hit during the call!) Missed a couple of calls from my good friend Carl, with whom we both seem to help each other like brothers.
Strange how we still apologize to fellow CHer's for having attacks. I still do, others have to me, we do to our supporters ... seems to be a sense of guilt we can't help.
But, even so ... thanks to all I mentioned above (and too many to list all forms and "Family" and posts like Jimi just put up), we can find ways to rid ourselves of this guilt and continue to work on our attitudes. Which, in turn, will help us grow closer, understand each other better, be more tolerant and show more respect for everyone.
Thanks Jimi for sharing this, I always look forward to your posts.
Take care my brother,
Dave
(Note: And a little humor can help our attitudes as well, which is why with my health situation, my tag at the bottom gives me some laughter. As ridiculous as the quote is, it hits home with me and makes me smile)  :)

Great quote! Thanks for sharing it, Jimi! :)

I know that my life changed for the better when I changed my attitude into a positive one. Positive attitude works! :)

Have a wonderful day,
Sanna

Great quote and a great reminder that positive attitude truly is a choice - especially in the worst of circumstances.  Will print for my fridge too... :D
