Title: Lord, please give me strength Post by Sandy_C on Jan 24th, 2006, 2:10pm If any of you have followed the thread where I asked for advise for drug abuse in my future son-in-law, let me fill you in on what else is going on in my life right now - not CH thank God. I get back yesterday from consoling/helping my daughter cope with her addicted live-in boyfriend to find my boss has had a stroke and is in the hospital. Now, mind you, he and I are the only two people in this company, so guess what - it's all falling on me right now and I'm taking a couple minute break just to touch base with my CH family. Boss and I had "some" provisions in case of his death (he's 70), but there are no provisions whatsoever in case he's disabled and can't work any more. He retires - what do I do? So, now, I'm not only concerned about my daughter and her welfare, but for my welfare without employment should he "have to retire and close down the business". S**t! And, do top everything off, I haven't had more then 3 hours sleep per night since Thursday - DOUBLE S**t!!! >:( Later Sandy |

Title: Re: Lord, please give me strength Post by Sandy_C on Jan 24th, 2006, 3:49pm Karla, the really sad part is, bossman has had a stoke. He cannot speak, ergo I cannot talk with him about the future of his business, or the future of me. Sigh! But I will say, and with pride - I AM holding down the fort at work for him. It's just that I'm sooooo tired. :-/ Sandy |

Title: Re: Lord, please give me strength Post by sandie99 on Jan 24th, 2006, 4:20pm Sandy, you're in my prayers. I hope that things work out for the best... [smiley=hug.gif] Your situation reminds me of how fragile life really is and how little prepared we sometimes are to face those negative surprises life gives. Best wishes, Sanna |

Title: Re: Lord, please give me strength Post by pattik on Jan 24th, 2006, 5:15pm Wow, Sandy, what a bunch of stuff all at once. I know that you are being pulled in two or three directions, but you won't be any good to your daughter or your boss if you don't step back a little and give yourself a break. I'm sending vibes for a positive resolution for all of those issues, and I'm hoping that you will see clear to set your priorities and just take them one step at a time. [smiley=hug.gif] Pat |

Title: Re: Lord, please give me strength Post by Sandy_C on Jan 25th, 2006, 4:21pm It is 4:15 pm, by my puter clock. For the next 45 minutes, I'm going to just sit here and contemplate my navel, unless the da** phone rings again. The boss is doing better. The stoke was apparently not a really biggie, but still did some damage. He has mobility in all arms and leg, but moves slowly. His speech was worrisome because it first he couldn't speak at all. Now he is regaining speech and can communicate fairly well. It too is very slow and deliberate like he has to search for every word he wants to say. But, given how soon after the stoke, I'd say he's doing pretty well. He told me he was going to come home today. Yeah! His family and the doctors were just smiling and shaking their heads. But knowing bossman, he'll be in his chair on Monday morning come hell or high water! Daughter's situation is still up in the air. Boyfriend had his first rehab yesterday, but I don't know much about what happened in it yet. He still doesn't know if he has a job or not, waiting on that too. This waiting stuff stinks! I appreciate all the vibes and juju. I'm doing OK, but just tired. I think I'll be able to sleep a little better tonight. Love to all Sandy |

Title: Re: Lord, please give me strength-UPDATE Post by Sandy_C on Jan 31st, 2006, 5:10pm Well, here it is the end of January - let's hope February gets better. As I said earlier in this thread, bossman had a small stroke. Guess what! He's back at work had stroke on Sunday 1/22, released from the hospital on Thursday, 1/26, came in Friday afternoon with his wife for about an hour, then has been here most of yesterday and today. He cannot drive, so wife brings him in. His speech is really pretty good, although very soft and tentative. The problem is, he knows in his head exactly what he wants to say, but there are gaps, can we say, between that and what comes out of his mouth. He can't remember names quite often, and has difficulty with numbers - for example, today is payday. He wrote my paycheck for $115,000.00. Great pay for a half a month if I do say so myself ;;D. However, that amount was slightly incorrect, so he re-wrote the check for $115.00, which was also extremely incorrect. Finally, he just gave me the checkbook and told me to write it myself. Major problem is his frustration and anger. He thinks he is doing just great and will not (cannot?) understand that he's not. He insists on calling our customers, but can't remember their names. He insists on calling our factories, which is an absolute NO NO. One factory has already picked up on the fact that "something is wrong with him" and are now asking questions. We are manufacturer's reps - we lose the confidence of our manufacturers - we don't rep them any more. So things are very difficult and tense at the office - he yells at me when I cut him off the phone, and I told him if he continues to try to make calls to people who he can't remember - I'll take his damn phone away completely! This does not make him happy, but at least I've got full support from his family to do whatever it takes. His wife and son have been a Godsend to me. On daughter's situation with addicted live-in boyfriend - he's doing rehab, testing clean, and was able to get his job back (although on probation for a year). So far, things are going good. Praying he can do what he needs to do to stay clean. Sorry for the motor mouth. Just letting off some steam. Thanks for listening (reading) Love to all Sandy |

Title: Re: Lord, please give me strength Post by Charlie on Jan 31st, 2006, 6:52pm Glad to see some things going right for you. Keep after him kid.
