Title: To Nan/OneEye Blind's Friends...... Post by Cathi04 on Jan 20th, 2006, 7:55am Somehow, my cell voicemail got screwed up. Seems A WEEK AGO, Nan left me a msg, telling me she and Red were on their way to Pittsburgh. Red has been on the liver transplant list for months now. They have made at least 2 trips in vain, due to liver viability in each case. It's been tough, waiting, packed, hoping the "special cell phone" would ring, rushing when it does so the window of opportunity doesn't close in on them, waiting, and hoping....and, in the bargain, HOPING Red can stay healthy enough for this transplant! Please take a moment and wish them BOTH well. Say your prayers, send Nan some strength. They wont be home for awhile, and I suspect they have plenty of family rallied round them, but it doesnt mean they couldnt use a little more support. Nan would tell you, right now, she's leaving it in God's hands- it's the best thing she can do. Thank you, Cathi |

My friend Sandy was 3 hours away from being unplugged from her respirator when they found a transplantable lung. 3 hours. We had all already said 'goodbye', and then we had to put up with two more years of her. Sadly, as a lot of you know, we lost her last year, but that was two bonus years for sure. |

JUST got off the phone with Nancy. They had 8,,,countem, 8 false calls, ie:livers that werent viable. false starts......but, today, after 5.5 hrs of surgery, Red has a new liver-AND HE's DOING WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nan asked me to thank those of you who were praying. She told me tonight, "this in one of those times when you simply have to put it all in God's hands". And she did. And all looks good! Yippeee! He was up walking on day 4, and I even spoke to him! He joked with me-it was good-very good! Nan and Red will not be home for at least 3 more weeks.... let's keep the good vibrations coming! Waiting for transplant was stress l to say the least, and I haven't had a headache the whole time ! See, stress does work !!!!!!! ;) Red was way ahead of schedule and was going to be released this past Friday, but we ran in to a snag with some med reactions which set us back a few days. :-[ But I think we are on the right track now, and things are looking up. They aren't giving us a release date yet, but he is feeling a bit better (not having the psychotic eposodes caused by some of the drugs, but there is still lots of confusion and a ying yang of emotional stuff) so things are looking up. Keep us in your prayers. Things with the liver are doing great ... it's the drug dosages they need to work on ! :D I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for all the well wishes and prayers. |
