Title: Now This Post by zwibbs/Scott on Jan 19th, 2006, 7:25am It has been a full month since my cycle stopped. Wonderful !!! Yesterday we had a wild day with heavy winds and rain. The day my cycle started in Mid-October I spent a considerable amount od money on having the trees around my house pruned and fertilized. Even with all that the winds took two of the trees into my house !It is a miracle that nobody was home --otherwise I would have been writing some very sad things. One estimate states 400,000.00 worth of damage Unfreakinbeleivable...I really needed this shit----But we all are alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Title: Re: Now This Post by cootie on Jan 19th, 2006, 10:22pm Geeze........we live in a valley surrounded by hills.......two are close hills on each side of the house cuz we are in a small branch off of the valley which is deeper and more narrow. The hills are all wooded and it scares the shit out of me cuz power lines run hill to hill over our house. I've gotten more paranoid each year with the more intense storms. Got a few big trees on top the hills that particularly scare me........power co is comein thru this spring to cut wider paths under the lines which will take care of sum of the bigger closer threats. Hope things get straighted'd out for you......stay safer. The closer they are the louder they fall Pam I lost a horse to a tree years ago in a freak accident.....have had several huge fat branches go thru the barn roof when I was inside like a spear. My fears have grown thru the years................ |

The tree service is here right now, and not a minute too soon. I am exhausted with the whole thing. Now I have to argue with the insurance company, and keep my fingers crossed that the Ch's don't reappear.Everybody have a wonderful weekend. |

It is actually how ridiculous the cost of real estate is in my area. I live 12 miles from NYC on the water.( Long Island Sound). I built this house in 1982--moved in 1983. The total cost for materials, appliances, property etc....170,000.00 It is a private community--gated. Everything mentioned brings the value way up...I have been offered over a million for it...Everything is relative---172,000 in 1983 was alot of money----still is----but the cost to repair the huge amount of damage is considerable. Just to cut the tree off of my house and cart away---7,000.00--I mean I must be in the wrong business. Money means nothing when I consider that nobody was hurt...The tree caved in my upper roof --tookmy deck away, and would have killed someone if we were anywhere in the house |

Title: Re: Now This Post by stevegeebe on Jan 22nd, 2006, 9:06am Read you insurance policy carefully. There is more ink on what's not included than included. Have you secured you home from water? A mold breakout will expand the scope of repairs beyond initial estimates. Mold needs moisture, food and the right temperature. Temperature range for mold growth is broad, your house is the food, so moisture is the thing you must control. Blue tarps work well down here but I don't know about in a snow region. Sad to hear of your misfortune. I may be able to help answer some questions so don't hesitate asking. One day at a time. Steve G |

What amazes me is that my scrubs ( alot of them) were covered only if they were damaged by fire ?!?! I know what you mean about mold.....A good friend of mine built a house on Marco Island---Hurricane Wilma caused alittle damage---but two months after the storm they had a breakout of mold....and the house is only three years old. I appreciate the offer of help. This is the pivitol week as the Insurance estimator, and all the people that came thursday and friday of last week will be submitting their estimates...Will keep you informed...............Scott |

They are there to take your money, not give it to you, regardless of what the commercials say. I had a tree fall on my house last spring, and I am still fighting the insurance company to pay for the total damage. They are blood suckers. Be prepared to get a lawyer. |

He was extremely precise and wrote EVERYTHING down and took many pictures. He also took some of the pictures of the tree sitting in the middle of the house. I am prepared for a major fight because I went out ( since last wednesday) and secured so much information on costs and repairs that it made his head spin...Will keep you informed... |
