Title: HELP!!! Post by BarbaraD on Jan 17th, 2006, 6:49pm Ok, I'm OLD, I'm on topomax - I'm forgetful, BUT someone posted a mutual fund that made a killing and for the life of me I can't find the name of the darn thing or the thread. SOMEONE HELP -- I was trying to tell my stockbroker about it today and went totally blank.... now he thinks I dreamed it.... Ok, so where the heck is it now (and please tell me it wasn't a joke......) Hugs BD |

Let's put an emphasis on "made" a killing...most funds and stocks in the energy sector did very well last year. Vanguard is known for their low costs, but this fund requires a minimum of $25,000. just to get in. Energy is expected to continue to do well in '06, but it won't be a repeat of last year unless there are some really bad political things or more storms happening. It is still a good area to be in for the long-term investor. If Vanguard is too pricey for you, you could always look into an exchange traded fund like "XLE"...also pretty low cost and easy to buy and sell. My [smiley=twocents.gif] Pat |

Post by BarbaraD on Jan 17th, 2006, 9:44pm My broker told me today that energy stocks are going to be good thru 06 and 07 or that's what they told them at the last school he went to. I'm looking for me as well as some clients retirement funds. All the old tried and true just aren't doing it right now for some reason. Thanks for the advice. I'll send him this stuff and see what he thinks. I know next to beans about the damn market. Except that if I buy - it goes down.... (luck of the Irish!). Hugs BD |
