It's election year to us Finns. We're deciding who'll be our president for the next 6 years. These two are against each other in the second round:

Now, which one would you choose? The second round is held in the end of this month.

Well, although I don't know much about either, Tarja seems like a good choice. First, she has broken the gender barrier in politics which is awesome, and she seems dedicated to good social improvements. Found this.." President Halonen has paid close attention to issues of human rights, democracy and civil society. Issues concerning social justice and promotion of equality have been central themes throughout her political career. She has likewise long played an active role in the international solidarity movement."

If I were to go by looks alone (and I'm not talking attractiveness), I'd have to say Tarja.

Originally we had 8 candidates to choose from, two women and six men. Back here there will be a second round if one candidate won't get 50 per cent of the votes - which didn't happen.

But Tarja Halonen was close - she got little bit over 46% on yesterday's first round.

I would vote for the woman as she looks like Conan Obrien's sister !!! I actually hear that he is campaigning for her !

Well the guy has a SMIRK on his face and I never trust a smirking polititian...to me he is basically poseing for this pic sayin secretly to himself (yer all ass-holes).....the lady has beady eyes.......they are useally CLOSED minded people. So guess I would do a write in candidate and put down 'Cartman's' name. Sa-weeeet non-realistic voter Pam

That's correct: Conan has done lots of Tarja Halonen campaign jokes on his show. He keeps on saying on the show that they're lookalikes. We can see that show in here with few days delay. Naturally it's hard to tell that how much impact his jokes have done to Halonen's campaign, but I'm sure it doesn't hurt. Conan is coming to Finland in February, so it's interesting to see that who's the president then and what will appear on the show about the visit...

Last night I went into the breakroom in the middle of the night, and a Conan show or rerun was playing, and he was doing the comparison to Tarja. Not only did it make me laugh, but it made me smile because I thought of you. :)
