Hello Everyone,
We have a brave little boy called Dawson going for an MRI tomorrow (Monday). His mum Margo is a new poster here and could do with some happy thoughts to take with her from all of us too :)

Dawson I know you're going to be a brave boy in that big machine! It'll be just like being in a spaceship.. you can be Buzz Lightyear!

It gets a bit noisy but you'll be fine and you will have some really cool pictures of the inside of your head to see!

Take a couple of his favorite music CD's or a new one.....here that's what they do and ya have these irritateing but better then nothin ear michrophones they stick in each ear and the sound is great tho and really passes the time. Dependin on the MRI they last different time spans.....my neck was a good 25 minutes. So that mite settle him down to relax and not be so bored. Head musician Pam

Lots of well wishes are on their way to you from Finland.
I've been through MRI scan myself and I know what it's like. You might get scared in there, but take it from me: it's one little adventure, pretend you're in a space ship and you'll be fine. I pretented that I was walking on a sunny beach the whole time.

Good luck Dawson!!! Don't worry. It's a bit noisy, but it doesn't hurt at all. I'm sure you will do just fine.

I know you'll do just fine Dawson. You are a brave young man already, and this is going to be a walk in the park. All you need to do is lay there and relax and listen to the music.

Hi Dawson, you know that Superman can hear through walls and stuff, well, you'll be like Superman in that machine, you will hear the inside of the machine, isn't that cool!

HE sounds like he's a brave little boy. The CD's a great idea.

If he gets scared, they usually let mum part way inside to pat his legs to let him know he's not alone in that big machine.

Don't you worry, the x-ray machine doesn't hurt you at ALL! You will be just fine and then you can get back to playing!

We sometimes even take teeny little babies down for MRIs at the hospital where I work. I know you can do it! Just enjoy listening to some music - and I like the space ship idea! ;)

It's noisy, but what an adventure to tell your friends about !

I had my MRI 3 years ago, and last year my son had to have one. He went into the room all by himself and thought it was a cool experience. No Pain, just lots of thumping sounds. He got a cool hat and socks to wear.

Those machines do make lots of noise, but that's all it is - just noise.

Dawson,

What an adventure for a brave boy! You will have all kinds of things to tell us about. (I hear you get some bumpy socks) It won't hurt a bit. You will have to lay still but if you lay really still it gets over faster:) Maybe after it's all over you and Mom can have a picinic lunch:)

Hi Dawson-----Good Luck Buddy---I went through an MRI two months ago, AND there's nothing to it ! It will be quick and easy---Just think of Nani's dog friends with the BIG noses,,Will be thinking of you the WHOLE day.

Hey, good luck from Virginia too!!! Wow! It IS like going in a space machine cuz I've had one too. It is kinda noisy, but doesn't hurt at all, not one little bit.

maybe if you stay really still while they do it, Mom will buy you a Buzz costume?? Or some candy to go with it? ;)

I hate missing these! Hey Dawson no problem with it, ask them to play music for you and see if the clicking noise is out of beat, its kinda fun. You will be fine and have mom get you some new toys for being good during it ok. ;;D ;;D ;)

We are home and Dawson is doing great! He is just really tired and hungry! The people were so wonderful and caring there, they made him feel so relaxed and not scared. The best part was that it was an open MRI. So no big tube to go into! I think I was more uneasy then he was. Thank you so much for all of your kind words and thoughts. You all are wonderful. I don't know what I would do if I hadn't found this site. As soon as we get the results I will be sure to let you know. Again, you guys are great. Now I am off to get ready for his big day tomorrow. I can't believe he is gonna be 7. The time has gone so fast, and I wouldn't change a second of it for anything. It's stuff like this that really makes you love what you have and not worry so much about what you don't. Take care and wish everyone well.
