Title: Re: Think they'll find any of those miners alive?? Post by minnie on Jan 2nd, 2006, 10:21pm Damn I sure hope so.Prayers going out to the trapped minors their families and the rescue workers. They get paid so little for the danger the go through.but then again so many people do dangerous jobs for horribly low pay.People like Donald Trump make tons of money with the risk of a paper cut. No way could I work in a coal mine or anything under ground I'm VERY CLAUSAPHBIC.Senica lake near us has a salt mine .not for me but nothing too high either I'm afraid of heights . multiphobic Minnie |

Title: Re: Think they'll find any of those miners alive?? Post by Cathi04 on Jan 3rd, 2006, 8:08am Chewy's got a good point. This is a company we want to support, right? I cannot even imagine such deplorable working conditions-I mean, they used to bring canaries down into the mines to warn them of gasses........but it was sure and sudden death for the lil critters. BUTTT, a canary doesnt deserve to die any more or less than a human. PLEASE, let these men get out alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Title: Re: Think they'll find any of those miners alive?? Post by taraann on Jan 3rd, 2006, 9:46am That was one of the mine's that Sam (my hubby) applied at. Right before we left he got his surface mining apprentice card. I refused to agree with him to get his underground mining card....what happened yesterday was one of the reasons. No amount of pay is worth those life threatening dangers. Those miners and their families are in my thoughts and prayers. What a horror this is. |

Title: Re: Think they'll find any of those miners alive?? Post by Drk^Angel on Jan 4th, 2006, 3:10am They're now reporting that initial reports were incorrect. One miner is in critical condition, the rest are dead. Whoever fuq'd up with the wrong information should be thrown down in that mine, and sealed in for messin' with ppls emotions that way, whether he meant to or not. PFDAN............................... Drk^Angel P.S. MSNBC.com has updated their story on the mine disaster. DA |

Title: Re: Think they'll find any of those miners alive?? Post by zwibbs/Scott on Jan 4th, 2006, 7:31am I posted at 1 something in the morning that this whole episode had a wonderful ending...Only to hear a press conference at 3 A.M. EDT that there was a "communication" mistake, and twelve miners were found dead....only one is alive and barely. What a tragedy !!! Words cannot explain the feelings of the families. ......You had a horrible situation to begin with, only to make it even worse with the error in communication ( as they refer to it). Just such a bad, tragic situation. |

Title: Re: Think they'll find any of those miners alive?? Post by BarbaraD on Jan 4th, 2006, 7:35am Now the investigations begin and the company gets fined and sued and then it's business as usual until the next mishap. Looks like they'd "FIX" the problem with all the modern technology we have available. Those poor families.... |

Title: Re: Think they'll find any of those miners alive?? Post by taraann on Jan 4th, 2006, 7:37am I just can't imagine being told soon you'll be able to hug and hold your loved one. Then HOURS later saying oops I'm sorry, it was a miscommunication. What an outrage. What a horror. |

Title: Re: Think they'll find any of those miners alive?? Post by seasonalboomer on Jan 4th, 2006, 9:33am What a sad event. What will come out, from my guesstimation, is that the news that they were alive was acted on without confirmation, and after the bad news began to work it's way out, some "communication director" probably said, "Look, we don't say another word till we know FOR SURE." And let those poor families twist in the wind under the delusion that their men had been saved. This is a symptom of a system of communication that is too prevalent in our country, where we worry too much about the wrong thing, and lose sight of the REAL thing. Sad Sad Sad. Scott |
