Title: Thank god Post by stevea on Nov 30th, 2005, 6:05pm So glad to see this exists. I had been headache free for over ten years until yesterday. I nearly lost it. I started with the headaches when I was in 5th grade (I am now 37). My mom took me to an opthlomologist who told me I was just looking for attention. She took me to a family doctor that gave me codiene. Then she finally got me to a neurologist who told me they were cluster headaches and got me on an inhaler which worked. Then, they just disappeared in 1993. Then about two weeks ago the old phantom headache came on. I started to feel it, but it never materialized. Then two days ago the beast returned. It only lasted about an hour. My partner spent the evening microwaving wet towels for my head until they were hot enough. It is the only thing that ever worked outside of medicine. Has anyone else had a ten year respite? I am terrified that they are back. But at least this time around there is a group to commisserate with. I am going to go to my doctor and see if I can get back on an inhaler. |

Title: Re: Thank god Post by marlinsfan on Nov 30th, 2005, 8:08pm Welcome Steve, sorry you had to find us. My longest break has been 3 years. What was in the inhaler? Read a lot, there's good info in this site. This document has the best info on meds for us. Print it and bring to your doc. http://www.brightok.net/~mnjday/chtherapy.pdf Also, read the oxygen link on the left. O2 works great as an abortive for many of us. Use a non-rebreather mask with a regulator set at least 10 liters per minute. PF wishes. Jose |
