Title: New Member Post by Punky on Jun 4th, 2005, 11:53am Hello, everyone! I just wanted to thank all of you for being here and give you all a bit of a background on myself. I began having chronic daily headaches on the right side of my head during mid July of last year. I was diagnosed with another neurological medical condition last November, but after a trip to a neurosurgeon a few weeks ago, they now feel that I am also suffering from cluster headaches. I didn't ask, but I assume they are referring to the chronic clusters. Yesterday, on a trip to my neurologist, they started me on three days of Prednisone to try and break the cycle and 50 mg of Topamax for continued therapy. I have tried Topamax before with no success (for the other condition), but never with the Prednisone, so maybe that will be the key. Again, thank you for being there, and my thoughts are with all of you wishing you a pain free day! :) |

Title: Re: New Member Post by yikes-another-one on Jun 8th, 2005, 7:23pm I tell you what. I went and had my wisdom teeth pulled (just two in the left side, and not because of the headaches.) But the dentist prescribed a steroid to reduce the swelling..... Oh man. What a great time I had for 3 days. No clusters. I would have danced from the rooftops!!! (everyone talks about how bad it hurts to recover form the toothaches.... but I tell you, even that pain didn't reach a level 3 and at least I had oxycodene to take care of that pain) i actually cleaned my apartment.... and could formulate a thought without pen and paper. As soon as the taper began, it was back to normal. 4-8 headaches every single day. Of course, I won't take no more steroids... didn't like the heat-effect, and with ADD it just wasn't a good thing to SPEED up....hahahhahahaahhaha But it was nice. to catch the break... In fact I still dream about that feeling, you know, not looking over your shoulder and second guessing how your day will turn out. |
