Title: Re: blackouts Post by nani on May 16th, 2005, 3:44pm Some folks have reported passing out at the peak of a cluster, however, I haven't seen them describe what you have described. Frankly, it sounds concerning. Please follow this up with your dr. That BP was dangerously high. |

That is terrifying. Has it ever happend before? Please please please go straight to the doctor and get it checked out. It may have nothing to do with the ch and as Nani says that BP is extremely worrying. Let us know how you get on okay cos I'm going to be worrying now Regards Helen |

Title: Re: blackouts Post by LeLimey on May 16th, 2005, 4:21pm have you had an ECG? |

Title: Re: blackouts Post by alchemy on May 16th, 2005, 4:51pm not sure, i was pretty confused in the hospital, and for a few days after |

Title: Re: blackouts Post by LeLimey on May 16th, 2005, 5:27pm Thats a high dose. (not unusually high, there are others on similar doses) I would strongly urge you to find out of you have had an ECG and if not to have one. In light of the black outs I don't think you can be too careful. Seee????! Its like having an extra mum having me nagging you isn't it?! ;) |

Title: Re: blackouts Post by alchemy on May 16th, 2005, 5:53pm i wouldn't call it nagging. i'm afraid i'm asking to many questions. i've had noone to talk to about this and i'm afraid i'm bugging all of you with my dumb questions and situation |

OK Jim - hold that thought...................... Now kick it 'til its dead!! [smiley=laugh.gif] You can't ask too many questions, and don't forget, each and every one of us was new here once. Its quite a ride when you first sign up.. you alternate between exhilaration and confusion, there is alot to take in and we all want to run before we can walk We are here to help you though, others were here for me and I can never repay the lifeline they gave me. All I can do is try and pay it forward. I know once you find your feet you will be doing the same! Now.. ask away, the only stupid question is the one you are afraid to ask (I read that here BTW!) |

Title: Re: blackouts Post by ghost62 on May 17th, 2005, 12:55pm Well good news I too have blacked out from the pain and bp shot up fast. according to the doc at the er here the body shut down to fight the pain and bp shot up because of the reaction of the pain. I have only had it happen 1 time also but once is enough. Basically you had (as the doc told me) ran a marathon without taking a step. the body will shut down occasionally from that amount of stress/abuse. I like you seemed to have ramped to full pain limits way to fast. Well hope that helped and I hope you dont get hit that hard ever again. Good luck Mike |

Title: Re: blackouts Post by drwalker on May 27th, 2005, 7:08am I myself frequently black out from CH...sometimes they're brief, sometimes they're fairly long. I believe that the extreme pain and high blood pressure (mine occasionally goes over 200 over 130) may be triggering an "Absence Seizure" as defined on Webmd. I myself am a chronic CH sufferer, and I have tried all preventative medications except lithium, and none of them have helped. I have a prescription for Oxygen, but Medicare refuses to pay for it because I don't have emphesima, and the CH are debilitating enough that I can't hardly leave my house, much less work. I usually suffer 8-10 attacks per day, and since Jan 2nd, 2004, I only recall 5 days that I DIDN'T have an attack. If anyone has suggestions, I am all ears. I also have a symptom that I can't find documentation on, but I was wondering if anyone has uncontrollable muscle spasms during KIP 9 or 10's as I do (they almost seem like DT's or seizures). Sincerely stuck in 9-10, DougLass Walker |

Title: Re: blackouts Post by Kim Y. on May 27th, 2005, 2:19pm ;;DTHE ONLY STUPID QUESTION IS AN UNASKED ONE. ;;D Sorry just wanted you to know that if you don't ask then how can we help. No blackouts here but have hyperventilated a few times. BP has gone 151/105 due to the pain though. I think that is the only reason that the staff at the ER believed I was in pain. ::) Take care PF wishes and welcome...Kim |
