Hello all,
I am in my 2nd bout of headaches. My first episode was about 1 year ago and I went to my doctor. He told me I was suffering from cluster headaches and referred me to a neurologist. I was ignorant about "the demon" then and by the time I was able to get into a neurologist it was gone. So I didnt go...Well, the headaches came back as you all know that they do. My doctor referred me again to the neurologist and again it will be 6 weeks before I can get into see her. My doctor gave me the Imitrex pill and some pain killers but the pill hasnt helped at all. WHAT can I do until I get into see the neurologist??? Please help!!! I would be grateful for anything at all! Thank you.

Since your doc is wise enough to give ya imitrex then maybe he'll go one step further and give ya the imitrex injections instead.They will work MUCH faster than the pills.....

Yes, call your dr and ask about Imitrex injections and oxygen. The pain pills probably won't do much good. Ice or heat may help during a hit, also. I'm an "ice" person...others get some relief with heat. Sticking my face in front of a car AC vent blowing full blast helps me a little, too. Hang in there...

Hi, and Welcome!

Ditto to the above. Please follow Eric's link. This is the one article that truly saved my life last cycle.

The fact is, your cycle may very well be over by the time you see that neurologist. In other words, take the info to your regular doc and see if he/she will work with you until you can see that neuro! The meds and dosages needed are all in there. Hopefully you doctor cares enough to save you from the pain of CH for the next few weeks - and Imitrex pills and narcotics simply won't do it!
