Title: another newbie!
Post by darrennyc on Apr 26th, 2005, 7:18am
Hi all,

Might be the same story as everyone on here... I have been having headaches for months now... some more serious than others... I do get the occassional migraine from time to time.

Most of the time I can feel it on either side of the back of my neck... sometimes the pain switches the next day.

Lately my headaches are in my temple regions and above my eyes... most times I feel pressure in my cheek area as well... eyes feel tired and a little puffy.

Ive been to an ENT and got a CAT scan for my sinuses... all was normal. I have bad allergies but this doesnt feel like a sinus headache.

I have also been on Paxil for 3 months last summer and got off of it last Sept. Since then my head has not felt the same... weird vision problems and weird head pain... spoke to the dr.... and he said Paxil can stay in the system for awhile... (funny they dont tell you these things when they are prescribing it).

Made an appt. to see a neurologist in a few weeks but I hope I can make it til then.

Does this at all sound familiar to anyone?

Please let me know.. I am so glad that there is a site out here for me to discuss this.

Thanks - Darren

Darren,

Sorry you are hurting but truly glad you found us.

One thing you can try is to take the cluster quiz on the left and see if you fit CH.

Some of your symptoms sound familiar.  But others like cheek pain and the switching sides of neck pain from day to day is some what confusing.

Need a little more information like how often, what level of pain, one sided, what does it feel like, have you tried anything that helps???  Tell us more.

What you need to get is into see a neurologist and get a Diagnosis.  Till then read up on the topics on the Left and see what works and become knowledgeable when you go to see him.

Pf wishes...Kim

Hello Darren. Sorry to hear that you are in pain. I am not a doctor and this is only my opinion.

Cluster headaches are usually always on one side. It is not unheard of for them to switch sides but it is very unsuual. I've had clusters for 30 years and have never had pain on the right side, always the left.

Lately my headaches are in my temple regions and above my eyes... most times I feel pressure in my cheek area as well... eyes feel tired tired? cluster pain is usually IN the eye and/or right behind it and a little puffy.

Ive been to an ENT and got a CAT scan for my sinuses... all was normal. Good start. I have bad allergies but this doesnt feel like a sinus headache.

Does this at all sound familiar to anyone? As a cluster sufferer I have to say no.

Please do as Kim said and take the 'cluster quiz'.

And, do the headaches wake you at night? When the headaches come on do you feel better laying down or standing/sitting up?

Please let us know.

Hey Darren
Take the cluster quiz, look around, get some info and take it to the neuro, it may help in a positive or negative dignosis for clusters. Some of the symptoms you referred to sound like clusters, some not, like Kim said, tell us more...... Welcome to the board, best of luck to you.
