Title: There Gone (For Now) Post by thesufferer on Apr 13th, 2005, 9:34am The headaches are gone for now. For how long, who knows. As an eposodic sufferer I was lucky and did not have them for 3 years. When they came back, they came back with a vengence! I myself feel for those poor souls that are chronic! This time they lasted about seven weeks. From 1 a day to 4 or 5 a day. I believe Imitrex is still the best remedy for the pain, but when you don't have any this is what I try to do. 1. Remain as calm as possible. 2. Run cool or cold water and completely wet your head and hair thoroughly. 3. Take a towel and put it on your head and slowly rub it all over your head. 4. Breath normally from a humidifier or some sort of mist to try to open up the nasal passage. 5. Do all this in the dark! 6. Remain calm and think good thoughts! I have been suffering from CH since 1982 (left side always) when I was stationed in Panama and at first it scared the hell out of me. I was finally diagnosed with CH in 1996 and in 1997 I was given Imitrex for the first time and to me it's a wonder drug. I'm not saying that the above remedy takes away the pain, but for me it keeps me active and I really try not to think about it or the pain. It's not easy but I feel right now that it is the best solution for me! I would be glad to talk to anyone and start a support group in my area! (Cedar Park, Texas). For all the CH sufferers and support personnel, I do feel the pain and wish you all well!!! |
