Title: Hi Post by Itz_Me on Mar 26th, 2005, 4:26pm Hi Every1 Im sooo glad to find this site. Its such a relief to know that im not alone and their is people that do understand out there. Im very new to message boards, ive never used them before so please excuse me if I make mistakes. My Headaches started around 4 weeks ago, I tend to get the most pain on one side of my temple and strangely at the top of my head but at the back. The pain will come very quickly and gets very painfull within seconds. Im getting these headaches twice a day. Sometimes i get a hot feeling or a tightening feeling on my temple then within mins banging at the top of my head and in my eye. I went to the doctor just a week and a half ago as i am finding these headaches very hard to cope with on my own. Straight away my doctor told me I was suffering from cluster headaches and prescribed my with sumatriptan injection and nasal spray (nasal spray makes my really sick). He has also given me pizotifen and has refered me to a nero. Is anyone else on the same meds? I cant stand the pain when I get a full blown headache, can anyone give me advice on how long these pizotifen take untill they should kick in? |

Title: Re: Hi Post by LeLimey on Mar 26th, 2005, 4:35pm Hello itsme! I'm in Nottingham too.. well outside it but close! I'm sorry to hear you are suffering this too. I've not had pizotfen but I have had the imigran injections and they worked within five to ten minutes for me.. usually the quicker half. I'm taking verapamil and I've started taking the kudzu too.. you need to see the thread on it on the meds board. Check your pm's top right hand corner of the screen. I shall send you my phone # so if you want to talk about doctors or anything you can! Have a look at OUCH UK too.. useful info on meds to take to your doctors from there. Have you read about or heard about oxygen yet? I'd highly recommend it and since we are obviously quite close to each other I'm quite happy for you to try mine and see how you get on. Hope you get some relief soon Helen |

Title: Re: Hi Post by E-Double on Mar 26th, 2005, 4:38pm Good to meet ya, Big thing that caught my eye was that you were given both the injection and the NS........ Eventhough they are the same "med" DO NOT use them interchangeably.......can be dangerous. added: Pizotifen http://search.drugs.com/xq/cfm/pageID_0/qx/index.htm http://www.neuroconsult.co.uk/doctorssite/drugareas/drugs/drugsanomigran.asp http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100002087.html Good luck, research and don't let these things rule ya!! Best, E |

Title: Re: Hi Post by Ellick on Mar 26th, 2005, 4:49pm Hi, I am fairly new to here too so I feel a bit odd saying welcome. Sorry you are having a tough time. If you haven't tried it, I suggest you take a look at using 02. It has worked well for me. Have to make sure that you use a high flow valve (between 7 and 15 litres a minute). Tha valves cost so I asked for 3 small cylinders on each prescription (Cylinders are white called portable or CD). These small cylinders are fitted with a high flow valve. At least this way you will get a chance to find out if it works for you. Ouch Uk has a good advice about how to use 02. Sounds like you have a good GP. Lots of very knowledgable people on here with good knowledge, advice and support. Good luck and my best wishes to you. ET. |
