Title: New here and am I suffering from Clusters? Post by rmolina on Mar 16th, 2005, 1:10am Hi there. I am 23 years old and back in January, for the first time, I felt a throbbing pain on the right side of my head which felt worse than any headache I've ever had. I took extra strength Tylenol and it didn't do anything. Luckily it went away the next day. About over 3 weeks ago, the same pain came back to my head and it took at least a week for it to get a little better. I was able to make it go away periodically with Asprin MG. There were some days the pain was gone completely and some days the pain would come back but not hurt as much as before. I used to think it was a migraine but the only symptoms I have been suffering for the past 3 weeks is the pain on the right side of my head, irritation from bright lights and loud sound, and drinking an extremely cold drink irritates the pain in my head. I don't suffer from naseua, exhaustion or droopy eyelids, etc.. Now in the mornings I feel the pain on the right side of my head dormant getting ready to attack even though it doesn't hurt yet. I start feeling the pain again at night and can make it go away in an hour with tylenol or asprin. But the pain has been occuring at the same time, in the same part of my head for a few days and this whole ordeal has lasted for over 3 weeks. Am I suffering from clusters? Thanks for reading. |

Title: Re: New here and am I suffering from Clusters? Post by TxBasslady on Mar 16th, 2005, 2:07am Welcome to the board. Check out the links on the left of this screen. Take the cluster quiz. See how you fair on that quiz. When my CH started, it was very erratic. The pain was short lived....and tolerable. As time went by....it became most untolerable. Everyone is different....and the meds do not work the same for all. I hope you don't have CH.....but if you do, there is great support here. Lots of home remedies can and will help. Read all the links on the left....valuable information. PF vibes, Jean |

Title: Re: New here and am I suffering from Clusters? Post by jokrs2 on Mar 16th, 2005, 2:15am Hi rmolina and welcome to the site. Sorry you are having pain, but it sounds like it could be something else. May I recommend that you visit all the tabs on the left hand side of your screen, take the quiz & surveys. There is a lot of information over there and in the posts. You may find that you don't have Clusters. Have you seen a neurologist who knows how to diagnose clusters. If you have them they would definitely prescribe you something that would possibly be more effective than what you are using at this time, but you say an over the counter pain med is relieving it. I wish! When I get a cluster it will completely close one of my eyes depending on the effected side of the head with eye and nose drainage, and while in a shadow my eye will droop. It will suddenly attack my jaw to ear area and quickly spread behind and around one of my eyes, never both. I used to scream yell and whimper and hit myself in the head trying to beat the demon out but after becoming chronic I now just crumple into a heap and my legs won't stay still, (over 20 years now). I have to sleep sitting up now because laying down is not an option. Have you had an MRI or other testing to find out if it is anything else? I know theres alot of have you's here, but it is important. I hope your pain goes away, but if you do have clusters you will find a treasure trove of information in here and people who will support & help you. Best of luck in your search for answers. Blessings, Joe |
