Title: Re: My dad is going nuts! Post by pattik on Mar 14th, 2005, 7:59pm So sorry he is going through this, and you are feeling a bit helpless about it. When he is up to it, direct him to this site for lots of information and support. You may have noticed a Supporters catagory here. There will be good info for you there, as well as on the rest of the site. If he has been diagnosed with clusters, he may want to give oxygen a try if he has not already done so. There are very specific ways to use it as an abortive, not only for effectiveness, but especially for safety reasons. So please look around and you may very well find some useful information here. Best to you and your father. PK :) |

Title: Re: My dad is going nuts! Post by Kris_in_SJ on Mar 14th, 2005, 8:03pm Hi, Welcome. Encourage your dad to visit this site and the board. The best thing for both of you is to read and learn all you can. Without knowing what meds your dad has tried, is on now, what has worked or not worked, there's little advice to give. We will, however, provide support in anyway possible. I admire your support for him ... we sufferers couldn't exist without the people who care about us. But, the more you can tell us, the more we can help. Many hugs, Kris |

Title: Re: My dad is going nuts! Post by RichardN on Mar 15th, 2005, 1:31am Cogratulations on hitting the "mother-lode" of cluster information . . . . worldwide sufferers helping each other . . . with RESULTS. The general motto is "Nothing works for everyone, but something works for everyone" You dad is NOT alone and we DO understand this horror we call Clusters . . . . and herein lies the information and support to get him through this. Pat yourself on the back, give him a hug and send him on over . . . read, read, read . . . ask what you will . . . . the light's always on. Be safe, PFDANs Richard |

Title: Re: My dad is going nuts! Post by Margi on Mar 15th, 2005, 9:46am Hi Concerned Child - thanks so much for posting about your dad. It's wonderful that you're concerned about him and how to help his pain, you sound like you're already a great supporter! You're getting some great advice here, probably the most important for you dad is to let him know that he's not alone with his pain - that there are others like him out here that he can talk to about it. That's huge in the management of these attacks. I'm a supporter just like you and it has helped my husband immensely to meet and talk to other clusterheads. Please do encourage your dad to visit here. Also, we have a Canadian website with a message board just like this one. We also have a few clusterheads right in Montreal that would be more than willing to help your dad cope - if language is an issue for your dad, we don't mind if he posts in French at the Canadian board as well. Take care and please feel free to write to me directly if you need some help supporting your dad. (moxie_miss@hotmail.com). Canadian website: http://www.clusterheadaches.ca |
