Title: I'm looking for help! Vision problems! Post by Benbet on Jan 28th, 2005, 8:55am I'm very new to this and don't even know if I have CH! But for the past almost two months I have been waking up at night, once with exploding flashes behind my eyes and extreme shakes! I have difficulty reading now..vison is blurred in spots and bright spots all over page. Been to eye doctor, eyes are fine. Been to emergency room, did cat scan, saw no tumor, etc. Have appt. with regular doctor in a week. But found this web site yesterday and have many of these symptoms. Have mild pain behind and around right eye and have tearing of right eye. Does any of this sound like anyone else? I have always had migraine aura since teenager..am now 61 years old and have never had anything like this! |

Title: Re: I'm looking for help! Vision problems! Post by Bob_Johnson on Jan 28th, 2005, 9:00am Afraid that we can't offer specific insight because cluster is very rarely associated with aura. Just no direct experience to share. Since you are aware of aura, I guess that any dramatic change in you experience would lead me to see your physician ASAP. There are just too many possible problems which need to be investigated to delay. |

Title: Re: I'm looking for help! Vision problems! Post by floridian on Jan 31st, 2005, 9:58am I get aura, but not with headaches - it just comes on its own occasionally. How long does your pain last? How many headaches a day, and for how long? What other patterns have you noticed? Taking the cluster quiz (menu on the left) may give you a better idea ... but if you do have clusters, it does not sound like the typical case. Migraines are more likely to affect vision and the visual cortex of the brain than clusters - we sometimes develop problems like drooping eyelid or change in the shape of the affected eye, but that is usually more long term. As the previous two posts said, this is something that you need to keep bugging the doctor(s) about ... getting a correct diagnosis is necessary before these problems can be treated. |

Title: Re: I'm looking for help! Vision problems! Post by Benbet on Jan 31st, 2005, 4:26pm Thanks to all of you for answering my message. I did go to the doctor on Friday and he thinks the aura is associated with migraines. Of course, the minute you mention that you have always had the auras, then that's what you get diagnosed with!! So, he prescribed a preventive ( which doesn't seem to work!) and another med which I had filled but haven't taken. He also thinks I should see neurologist which I wil do in March. No matter what I turn out having, I have to say what a great web site you all have! You are all so very supportive of each other and I hope each of you finds a remedy for the terrible pain you suffer. Thanks! |

Title: Re: I'm looking for help! Vision problems! Post by floridian on Feb 1st, 2005, 12:56pm Many preventive meds take some time to work - give it a week or two. Also, some preventives may require an adjustment of the dose. |
