Title: Sayin' Hi
Post by scarmig on Jan 27th, 2005, 12:24pm
Since I broke my lurker status on the Convention thread I might as well say Hi to the general community.

I've been lurking off and on for a couple of years near, ever since I was diagnosed with CH.  I get 12 weekds of CH every 9 months.  My last session ended January 1, 2005 was the first time I've ever lost awareness due to pain.  Even though I was on Zomig, my wife found me curled in a corner screaming into a towel.  She held me for 45 minutes while I fought it off, but I never even knew she was there until it broke.

But the most horrible experience I've ever had was being home alone with my 2-year-old daughter and getting hit with a 6-7 (rocking and moaning) while she patted my shoulder, shakily repeating, "It's okay Daddy.  It's okay." and trying to kiss my head to "make ouchies go away".

Prior to finding a doctor I suffered with much milder cases for years thinking they were yearly sinus infections.  Finally I paid attention to the pattern and got myself to a *real* doctor, a heachache specialist in Houston.  He knew exactly what I had, and we've had pretty good luck finding abortives, even if preventatives seem to make me sick.

I think that about covers the basics... duration, frequency, intensity, and personal anecdote.

:)

Welcome scarmig and sorry you're here. Since you've been lurking, you know all about what this place has to offer. Hope to meet you in Dallas!  Pain free wishes, nani
