Title: the captain's back... Post by pat_heaney on Jan 14th, 2005, 3:14pm capt'n cluster that is. After 12 painless years I felt it.....DAMN... How did it find me?? Hi, I'm Pat and relieved to find this site!!! Mine started at 19 and I went the doctor revolving door bit till I was 40 when it was diagnosed and treated by Speed headache assc. in Baltimore.md. Calan sr, sansert, and O2 was given near end of cycle and it never came back . Now at 52 I can't wake up!! Speed is retired so if anybody knows someone in area I'd appreciate it. My reg doctor put me on verapamil 180 and after 4 days he's increasing it to 2x daily. along with preds 10g x8(first day)then taper to try and prevent the cycle ,along with O2. What's curious to me is after being diagnosed with mild high blood pressure and put on Lisinopril 10mg, 2 weeks later these came about.... Sorry for rambling.. but I needed to get it out! thanks pat. |

Title: Re: the captain's back... Post by Langa on Jan 14th, 2005, 3:56pm Hi and Welcome! Did you say 12 painless years??! Wow. I personally never heard of remission that long. I'm so sorry they're back for you...I can only imagine the devastation especially after 12 years PF, but happy to hear you're on the meds and oxygen...oxygen is a life-saver to many of us. A lot of us also use Melatonin for the night-time hits. Good luck. Langa |

hi Pat and welcome from me too. There does seem a be a pattern for some for episodes to get further and further apart... For my part, Im 44 now and began getting them at 16, every 2 to 2 1/2 years, then previous lot I had 4 year remission, and this last time 5 year remission. Ive come across quite a few mentions of cycles getting further apart, but lasting longer - thats my experience also. The previous cycle after 4 years free lasted 5 months! The most they had been before that was 2 months, initially only 4 -6 weeks. But this cycle kicked in the butt after 2 months, since I began water water water - worth a try... I wish you well - make sure you research all you can here and keep in touch & let us know how you're doing And ask ifyou need help, someone is always here :D CC |
