Title: Please help me ! Post by outoftheblue on Jan 11th, 2005, 5:09pm Hello everyone, I don't know what type of headache I have. As a teenager, I used to have migraines, that come once a month or once in two months, and lasted for 5 or 6 hours and with a night of sleep would go away. About 7 months ago, I developed a CONSTANT headache. I have a nagging pain at my temple every second. Although it is bearable, I have lost any interest of doing anything, struggle to keep up with daily chores and work. I sometimes think I am going mad, crazy. Sometimes, the pain is throbbing, and then dulls back to a constant nagging pain. I wake up with it and go to sleep with it. My blood tests and brain scan are normal. I am helpless and don't know what to do. Does anybody know what kind of headache I have? I am not sensitive to light, but my right side head, neck and shoulder pain like hell and this has lasted 7 months and still continues. I will do anything to ged rid of this. I empathize with all of you since the meaning of life is pointless when you have pain every second of your life. Please help!!! and thanks for all your suggestions. |

Title: Re: Please help me ! Post by Kris_in_SJ on Jan 11th, 2005, 8:03pm If you haven't done so yet - run ... do not walk ... to the nearest neurologist who might specialize in headaches. The fact that your pain is localized to one area and fairly constant means there's certainly a problem somewhere. My first cluster episode was somewhat like you explain. I had one bad HA and then a constant shadow that varied in intensity for about 10 weeks - about the length of time a normal cycle now runs for me. But there's not doubt that 7 months is a long time! My heart goes out to you. Read all you can and find a doc who will listen to you. You may not have clusters, but you've got something that needs threatment. Hugs, Kris |

Title: Re: Please help me ! Post by Bob_Johnson on Jan 13th, 2005, 8:25am A new headache pattern as you describe calls for an immediate evaluation. I would not wait weeks to see a headache specialist but get see a neurologist for a screening. |

Title: Re: Please help me ! Post by TxBasslady on Jan 14th, 2005, 1:00am If you haven't had an MRI.....then you probably should. As Bob said......you need to see a neurologist! A headache that never goes away could be an aneurysm. I'm sure others can give more info on that. See a Neuro a.s.a.p. PF vibes, Jean |
