Title: another newbe!
Post by sdasprsrock on Dec 11th, 2004, 1:10pm
 Hello board!
My name is Nick and I live in the high mountains of Truckee, CA but I am soon to move to Santa Cruz to study music. I am 19 years old and I have been suffering cluster headaches behind my left eye and forhead off and on since I was 9 or 10. I just recently went 2 or 3 years without a single attack and I figured I must have grown out of them, but in the middle of last month I started to get them again here and there, now they have increased intensity and I am getting them 2 to 3 times a day. Usually one very intense one in the morning, then a couple somewhat mild ones later in the day or before I go to sleep. I seem to have entered the episodical period that I have been through before: 6-10 weeks of headaches between Nov-Feb, then I will have virtually no attacks the rest of the year.  As far as relief from these horrific occurances, I have found that once I feel the beast comming on,  caffine taken right away somewhat takes the edge off and the pain ceases within 15 mins. The water treatment also seems to take the edge off a bit. I hope some of this information can be of some help! To all sufferers out there, I have faith that there is relief for every type of sufferer. Keep searching!
 Much Love,
    Nick Overhauser

Hello Nick and Welcome!

As we say here,  sorry you have to be here but at least you're not alone. The people on this board are amazing, and extremely helpful and supportive.

Have you tried oxygen to abort the CH?
Also, since you're gonna be in Santa Cruz, you should think about the mushroom treatment. READ FIRST:

Good luck to you!!!

Hi Nick...welcome and sorry you're here. See a dr who understands headaches. There are both preventative and abortive treatments available. Ice packs and oxygen also help some. I hope you find relief. Pain free wishes to you.
