Title: I feel one coming on as I write...shit! Post by Guido on Oct 4th, 2004, 1:13pm Sorry, I may have orginally put this post in the wrong place. This is my second episode My first was a couple years ago. I had no insurance so I just took the pain for a few months and it went away. I has no idea what I was doing as far as meds nor did I know what was going on with my head. All I really knew was " much more of this and I might as well jump off a bridge". Now they have begun again. This time I have been led to you all and this site. I now have insurance as well. I took my pain to the doc and he has given me Maxalt ( which seems to do nothing and one can only take it 4 times a month). Amitriptyline, 20mg before I go to bed. I feel now after reaching HC.com that my doc isn't on the same page. When I first went to the doc I was having ha 4-5 times a week around 2am or so. Now I am at 1-3 attacks daily, and of course at my wits end. Now Iam at that point where I spend my day focusing my attentions on the "shadows" as you call them. I liken it to the grade school days when I was afraid of this one bully. Difference here is I finally had my day with him and ended up kicking his ass much to my surprise and delight. I can't seem to kick this headaches ass. My fear is the doc is not thinking "cluster" and I have all the wrong meds. I would like some feed back please. Thanks to you all for this site and being there. The strangest things bring people together. |

Title: Re: I feel one coming on as I write...shit! Post by karma on Oct 4th, 2004, 1:19pm Guido, Quickly go run, do some jumping jacks, push ups whatever. Get the blood and oxygen flowing. Drink lots of water. don't stop until you are worn out or the pain is completely gone. No gurantees but it may work |

Title: Re: I feel one coming on as I write...shit! Post by nani on Oct 4th, 2004, 1:43pm Go back to your doctor and tell him about cluster headaches.... you need oxygen or imitrex (a triptan like maxalt) to abort the HA. You probably need Verapamil, too. I use Neurontin, also. I used to use Maxalt - but wasn't limited. Is the limit set by your insurance or your doctor? Melatonin helps your sleep patterns. Welcome. and hang in there... [smiley=hug.gif] |

Title: Re: I feel one coming on as I write...shit! Post by thebbz on Oct 4th, 2004, 7:02pm Guido, Your thinking is right. Need a doctor that knows what you are fighting. Most of the oral administered abortives are too late. The only thing that works for me is the imitrex statdose or O2 administered correctly and immediatly. Tried all of the others no worky. The GP is the first step you need a referral to a neurologist. Hope the best and keep your spirits up. It wont kill ya.. BB 8) 8) ;;D ;;D |
