Hi all, I just found out about this site. Clarifies any questions I had about what I have been suffering from. I am 44 and have had cluster migraines since 1978 when I was 18 :(.
I have found some relief with Zomig and Axert two prescribed medications that taken at the onset usually averts a full blown cluster.
Clusters have usually hit around Christmas for me, but I missed last year pain free [smiley=laugh.gif] just to get them again 15 days ago. This bout they are coming right on schedule and now twice a day.
Funny that I thought I was the only one with enough pain to want to be dead rather than have another cluster attack.
Well nice to meet you all and look forward to sharing a few stories with people I can relate to.
BTW I hear magic mushrooms take away the pain... Can anyone verify this?

Welcome, sorry you have to be here. Please do not use the term cluster migraine. Ch, cluster, clusterheadache, fucking beast all of those are acceptable. ;) Yes , shrooms work for some. www.clusterbusters.com will tell you a lot.

well gee thanks for the info.... I'll use the beast as instucted.... and thanks for the tip on the shrooms.... Its been years since I had any but I will try ANYTHING to get rid of these .......beasts.......

Hi Doug, sorry to hear you're back in cycle. Please be careful mixing meds like that and, whatever you do, make SURE you are not on any meds when/if you try the shrooms! I believe the half-life for the triptans that you are on is about 24 hours and you must make sure they are out of your system before you try the shrooms, ok?

BTW, I see that you are Canadian - we do have a website for Canadian clusterheads as well (at the moment, our server is down though but should be back up any moment). Please feel free to visit - we have some clusterheads in your area!

Welcome to clusterville, doug. Start your personal research here and now. Check out all the links to your left and read everything else you can here.

There are reported successes with shrooms. I haven't tried them myself, but I'm not afraid to either. What I have tried that I can report on, though, is OXYGEN.

You didn't mention it in your post. If you haven't tried it as described in the o2 link, you really must check it out. It's a proven abortive for many of us. In fact, no matter what med works for you, you should still have o2 around.

Good luck in your battles with the beast, no matter what weapon you choose. Keep us posted on what works, or doesn't work for you.

Oh, and Thomas is right. Cluster migraine is a despised term for this disorder for reasons that will become apparent to you after you hang here a while.

I have an appointment with the doc tomorrow to get me signed up on the o2 program, and will take your advice ty on the srhooms bit with the triptans flowing...

Hey, and have you ever tried melatonin at night, if you get hit at night, it can help sometimes. I would also ask your doc if you can get back on the zomig and shit-can the axert. Seems like from your other post that the zomig works better for you. :-/

Sounds like you got a handle on what to do with the CH cycle. Hope it is a short one this time around.
