Dr. Loretta Mueller at UMDNJ University Headache Center in Moorestown, NJ specializes in CH. I go to Jefferson Headache Center in Philadelphia. There are lots of options where you are in both NY and with NECH in CT. I'm sure more people will respond! Lizzie |

Title: Re: Recommend a "good" Doc?? NY/NJ/CT Post by Superpain on Jun 28th, 2004, 4:23pm Looks like he is a migraine expert. I don't see anything about cluster's mentioned with him though. He's written a book about non drug treatment therapy for migraines. If he tries that shit with you walk out. You might even call his office and ask specifically if he is equally an expert at cluster's and mention (in a nice way) that you don't want to waste your time with a non drug treatment regiment like he condones in his book. As outlined here... http://nydailynews.healthology.com/nydailynews/14961.htm |

Title: Re: Recommend a "good" Doc?? NY/NJ/CT Post by Superpain on Jun 28th, 2004, 4:32pm Like magnesium. See your doctor about this one. A study at the New York Headache Center found that a shot of magnesium can relieve severe migraine or cluster headaches within 15 minutes. The shots worked only for people with low magnesium levels, but there's a 50-50 chance you're one of them, says Alexander Mauskop, M.D., who directed the study Oral supplements don't have the same effect, but daily doses may prevent migraines. Dr. Mauskop recommends 500 milligrams of chelated (check the label) magnesium, divided into two or three doses through the day. |

Title: Re: Recommend a "good" Doc?? NY/NJ/CT Post by Superpain on Jun 28th, 2004, 4:39pm Nevermind... It is a "he"... Big proponent of intravenous magnesium... And Triptans... Migrain expert. Not too much mention of clusters. But I'd say he know's his shit... Or at least he should being in his position. |
