Title: another new member Post by Katie B on Jan 31st, 2004, 6:32pm hi everyone, i've been watching the board for the last week or so and finally decided to post. i'm a 23 year old female and was diagnosed in november by my family doc. i'm definitely an episodic, getting CHs only a few times a year for the last year and half or so. he gave me imitrex but fortunately i haven't had opportunity to use it, haven't had an episode since november ;;D . i haven't started keeping a headache diary yet so i really don't even recognize a pattern yet. i'm sure i have a lot to learn, and it seems that i'm in the right place. so hello to all of you! |

Title: Re: another new member Post by Edna on Jan 31st, 2004, 7:00pm Hiya KatieB So glad you've found us here, but so sad that you had to though. Please take the time NOW to read, read, and then read some more around here. Especially now, while you're perhaps not in a cycle period. You'll better be able to understand most things instead of when you're getting hit with attacks from the beast. We'll be glad to help with what we can, and are always interested in your progress. Join us also most nights at our common meeting ground: www.headachesupportgroups.com we chat there most evenings and would love to have you join us. Keep us posted on your progress, and again WELCOME EDNA |

Title: Re: another new member Post by Tiannia on Feb 1st, 2004, 1:00am Welcome Katie - When I first started a diary for my doc I would just put down start and stop times and he said it was usless. So after that I really got retailed. When I felt shadows, if I got sweats. Then it hit how it felt did it change in intenstiy while it was hitting and such and then when it stopped. Witht he times andsuch. This finally got my doc to see that I was not blowing smoke to see that I really had somethign going on consistentily that was causing me serious pain. So just write down everything. You never now wht it might show. Tiannia |

Title: Re: another new member Post by Charlie on Feb 1st, 2004, 4:13pm Welcome aboard Katie. While there is nothing to say that you'll ever experience this horror again, if you have serious evidence that Imitrex will help, you might want to stockpile the stuff. HMOs are really nasty about it. If I'm nuts, the others will correct me. I was 23 in 1969 when I was first hit with this horror and 45 when they went into remission. Maybe you'll never hear from this monster again. Here are two links that you might find useful (especially if he dares to appear again:) http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/ This is a great one for describing to others that this has nothing to do with what is thought of as a "headache:" http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/ Let us know how things are going. Title: Re: another new member Post by chronic_chic on Feb 1st, 2004, 5:19pm Welcome, fellow 23 year old who it already seems that I have things in common with based on talking to you! :) When my dad's best friend was in college, he got clusters and they were chronic for 9 years. He even went through law school with them. However, in 1980, they went away and did not come back. Charlie is right...maybe one day they'll just leave! It's always a possibility. Take care! ~Lizzie :) |
