Title: Maxalt-MLT
Post by ScottEinDC on Dec 11th, 2005, 12:38pm
Hello all,

The last time I visited my Dr., I left with three sample abortive medicines.  Imitrex tablets, one thing I can't remember the name of.  THe imitrex, I have no idea if it worked, my symptoms seem to keep going as normal.

The second one left me dizzy and confused for hours...not good.

He also gave me Maxalt-MLT, 10mg.  This tablet is one that dissolves on your tongue.  I think it worked.  My headache was gone within minutes.  I felt the CH creepin' in, took the tablet and no less than 10 minutes later, was totally normal.

Anyone else tried this?

I have one more tablet and will try it again when I need to.

My Dr brought them home for me.  I guess they are like Imitrex in that you can use 2 per day.

they seemed to work OK for me.

I have yet to try injectable, so thus far this stuff has worked best of this type for me.

Mlt is the halfway house between pills and injections.

I was prescibed them last year - they did catch some headaches, not all and one they didn't led to the worst headache I've ever had (that was the last time I took it).

Found 02 and clustermasx better at the aborts.  Didn't like the limits of the Maxalts in timescales (only 2 per day?) but useful tool for getting 6-8 hours sleep.

Ouch Uk also pushed Frovatriptan on the phone to me as it's a longer half life than Maxalt Melts but is only available as a pill, but since I discovered Clusterbusters I don't have to use these nasty medications.

All the best
