Title: I haven't gotten any work done today Post by imnotbub on Nov 9th, 2005, 2:54pm I found this site today at work and have spent the whole day reading and smiling. I was ready to have my teath pulled on the left side of my head. 2am, like clockwork for the last two weeks, I would get awaken by the onset of more pain then a human being should experience. I see now that the handfulls of ibuprofen and pseudofed I was taking was just something to do. With the headaches subsiding in around an hour, I just assumed it was the pills working. For those that have not tried it, I find I'm able to sleep a bit if I stay sitting up. Not real restful, but it brings a 10 down to around a 7 (hey, I got the lingo down already). I want to thank you all for making me aware of what it is I am going through, I was starting to think that I was a wuss and just couldn't handle a 'headache'. Some of the posts I have read could have been written by me. It was creepy. The nightly wanderings around in circles holding my head, the praying the kids would never see it fearing that it would scare them. I'm only in the third cycle I have ever had, the first only lasting two days, the second 35, and now in the 15th day of this one. all cycles coming about 2 years apart and in the fall or winter. (the first on Christmas eve and Christmas day). I will be spending alot of time on this site for the duration of this cycle, so I hope if you don't mind me saying that I hope not to be spending alot of time here for very long. My heartfelt thanks to all of you that post, I feel like a weight has been lifted knowing I am not crazy and I'm not dieing. God Bless Steve |

Title: Re: I haven't gotten any work done today Post by E-Double on Nov 9th, 2005, 6:10pm I felt the same way brother!!! I had yrs. of misdiagnosis and "suffered" for a decade without help. Found this place and learned how to live. Get to a doctor, a neurologist, headache specialist and get a proper diagnosisbecause there are a few different Headache types that present similar to CH yet respond to different meds and differ in duration, location and intensity. Good luck and read, read, read!!! E |

Title: Re: I haven't gotten any work done today Post by Kris_in_SJ on Nov 9th, 2005, 8:19pm Hi and Welcome, In case you haven't yet seen the link, please read the one below. It's been a lifesaver for me. http://www.brightok.net/~mnjday/chtherapy.pdf Also, if night hits are a big problem, you might want to try Melatonin (available OTC). When in cycle, I take 9mg about 30 minutes before bedtime. It has really helped many here. Next (my, I'm full of advice tonight), start a headache diary. Note the time of onset, duration, intensity, what you take, how it works, etc. Backtrack if you can. You need to be formally diagnosed before you can get proper treatment. Take the diary all your reading material and get to a neuro who (preferably) specializes in clusters and other headaches. Keep up the research and keep posting! Hugs, Kris |

Title: Re: I haven't gotten any work done today Post by LeLimey on Nov 10th, 2005, 4:49am Welcome Steve, I've read your posts, you have a good attitude. You'll fit in just fine here! Have a good read up on all the treatments available. There's alot to take in, consider Oxygen, its by far and away the best abortive I have in my armoury. Ask all the questions you want here and then you can go to your doctor ready to tell him what you want! Take care, looking forward to hearing more from you soon Helen |

Title: Re: I haven't gotten any work done today Post by Beastfodder on Nov 10th, 2005, 5:21am Not so scary when you know what you're dealing with - especially with so much good advice for staying on top of things. Not so much of a wuss when you realise what you've been living with. It gets even better when you find the right approach to dealing with cycles and aborting headaches. It sounds like you're keeping a diary of individual headaches, length, level etc. which'll help work out what treatments are best. O2 works great for me, but clusterbusters.com has been my big breakthrough in removing the beast's teeth. |

Title: Re: I haven't gotten any work done today Post by BarbaraD on Nov 10th, 2005, 7:53am And besides, I think Jonny has adopted you -- and that's a plus -- he may make you Prince Bub -- who knows ;) Seriously, glad you found us... we're a bunch of lunitics, but we're here for ya and you stick around after your cycle and help someone else. That's what we do.... Hugs BD |
