Title: Keep yo fingers crossed.  Wish me luck!
Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Sep 18th, 2005, 8:40pm
Tonite i am gonna try something i have not done in many many months, since i realized it was a trigger for CH.
Someone gave me a nice bottle of reserve kentucky burboun........and i am gonna drink some!!  I know i am playing with fire, taunting the devil if you will.
Sitting in my jet tub also is a trigger for me, but tonite i am gonna drink the burboun IN the jet tub.

Maybe tomorrow we can classify this under 'things i knew i shouldnt have done', but fuck it!  like E2 said, ya gotta live, right?
keep your fingers crossed and keep the vibes comin.

Well good luck to you!  I hope you have your meds/O2 at hand. ::)

But like they say:"In for the penny then in for the pound"

At least enjoy the trip while it last! ;)

Eating popcorn was a trigger for me, so I avoided it for a long time. Then one night I ate some without even recalling that it's a trigger and I didn't get hit. Since then, no probs! ;)

So good luck with your experiment! :)
My fingers are crossed. Let us know how it went, okay? ;)

Best wishes,
Sanna :)

Good luck brother!

BTW  I said ya gotta live but don't be stupid arm yourself and be prepared.

On a side note, I find it interesting how so many people identify triggers.
All documentation from research states that unlike migraine or tension type headaches that CH tend not to have triggers other than Alcohol and Nitroglycerine.
I still believe that we may have sensitivities but wonder about them being triggers per se.
If things are triggers then there will be an almost immediate attack.

Anyway........Let us know how your test went.

Eric

So, how did it go?

Well, to be honest with yous, I took baby steps.  Only drank 1 drink, which was yummy btw, only sat in the tub for like 5 minutes, and i didnt even lite my cigar.
But, the good news is that i didnt get hit.  For a second, i thought I was, but then it went away pretty quick.  Prolly cause i only had 1 drink and didnt get heated up in the tub.
Maybe soon I'll grow big enough balls to have more than 1 drink.

You got big balls for even trying one drink.  The beast is 10x meaner when you have alcohol (atleast for me).  My hat is off to you lol.

I'm caught with a similar dilemma tonight. Since my Dr said she thought I may have CH and learning about alcohol as a trigger, I havn't touched a drop. Its two weeks now without a single drink, which is a long time for me!

Now the thing is, I'm not convinced I have CH, so am tempted to have a couple of beers tonight as an experiment. If I get a headache, then I suppose it goes some way to making my diagnosis more certain. I hindsight, the headaches I have had after drinking have been the worst of the ones I have suffered, so having a beer is a real gamble. At least I have Imigram tabs now, so whatever happens, I should be able to shift it in 30 mins to an hour.

I'll let you all know what I decide to do and if I do have a drink, what happens.

Spent all last summer not drinking out of fear.

I gradually took sips here and there until finally deciding to go for it.

No hit...not a trigger.

It doesn't mean that it would not have been nor does it mean that it will not in the future.

In fact, Dr. Sheftell from NECH was talking about doing a study since it appears that many use it as a guage to whether their cycles are neding and many who are chronic report that alcohol does not trigger at all so he wants to see if it can sort of be an indicator as to an episodic turning chronic.

Eric who likes his good beer.....NO SCHWAG HERE

Well I went for it. I was drinking reasonably strong Frsnch lager, Kronembourg to those this side of the pond. On my second pint, I noticed my left nostril starting to block up. On my third a headache started to build, although a more generic one across my whole head rather than the concentrated left eye one. I've now come home (two minute walk). I've just taken an Imigran and with every word I type I can fee the pain moving over to its normal place and intensifying. I'm feeling it in my teeth now. I think the experiment has proved that CH or not, alcohol is a trigger. I just hope it doesn't get too painful now before my Imigran kicks in.

you'll have something to now really look forward to after your cycle is over..... :(
drinking after cycle is over is a great rite of passage for me. ;)

sorry to heat it though.

It ramped right up for a bit where I considered running around the block in desperation and now its dropped back to 'just a bad headache' where although unpleasent, I am perfectly capable of typing this message.

Surely the Imigran tabs couldn't start being absorbed in 15 mins?

Not likely Kevin, Did you swallow them whole or chew them though??

I swallowed it! The headache is now pretty much completely gone, just over half an hour after I took the pill. Before I was prescribed these, after beer (before I knew it was a trigger) the headaches were lasting 2-3 hours.
