Title: Rough night Post by kimmeesue on Aug 3rd, 2005, 1:40am I'm sitting here at the 'puter trying to keep my mind off the growing pressure. Took the latest Rx hoping for a miracle "this time". Thought maybe I could get to sleep. No such luck. So, it's 1:30 am and my hubby has to get up for work at 6:30 and I don't want to wake him for a trip to the ER which will be the third in 2 weeks. I am so sick of this routine. But have a question.... has anyone had success going back to a med which previously worked and then quit? I have done all the triptans at one time or another and they quit working after a period of months. Since they haven't come out with anything new, might it be worthwhile to try them again? At least when they worked I had a little reprieve unlike now when every hit is a kip 10 and I have 3-5 a week, lasting 3-4 hours. I would dearly love to try the alternative treatments but can't get past the legal issues...not morally or ethically opposed...have just heard the food in our local pokey stinks. Any thoughts or help on either issue would be appreciated. Kim |

Title: Re: Rough night Post by burnt-toast on Aug 3rd, 2005, 3:01am Prabably a good idea to get with your Doc. and start working on a med. treatment program that provides some relief. O2 seems to provide good results for many on the board - maybe something to try. Best Wishes Tom |

Title: Re: Rough night Post by Jasmyn on Aug 3rd, 2005, 6:16am Sorry you're in such a bad place Kimmeesue, but Tom is right. There are many other alternatives, go see your doc and let him prescribe some. Hang in there! ;) |

Title: Re: Rough night Post by lionsound on Aug 3rd, 2005, 7:05am hey Kim, I'm so sorry you are hurting so badly. [smiley=hug.gif] Sometimes the trex has stopped working then I've had succes with it working again when I gave it a break. Maybe changing forms from nasal to stat doses or the other way around might help. The same happened with zomig too..switched from tabs to disolvables on my tongue and it helped too...that also has a nasal form. Just like you, both stopped working as well as I'd like. trex was the only one working up until I got pregnant(no meds now) and even then not as well as I would hope. Have you tried O2? It sounds like you are not happy at all. Do you like you doctor? Do you see a neurologist? Maybe its time to change doctors and see a headache specialist..someone that can see all the options that you have.I went to a bunch of docs that told me they could do any more for me which brought me to tears. then I went to my current doc at NECH and he happily told me not to give up because he wouldn't....there was plenty left to try if I was willing to. You deserve the best care. Don't you dare give up. 3-4 hour hits are exhausting. I hope you are getting some rest today. Be well and PF...PM me if you want to chat, Rori |

Title: Re: Rough night Post by brainfreeze on Aug 3rd, 2005, 10:36am Sorry K, it's a bummer when you've exhausted all the avenues. I'm with the others here, go talk to the doc! Or go talk to another doc!!! I've returned to previous med's that quit to only have them work awhile and quit working again but anything is worth a try. If you haven't done the O2, it can offer some relief possibly. Hate to see where you are at... been there... lots of hugs................... |

Title: Re: Rough night Post by kimmeesue on Aug 4th, 2005, 12:03am MAde it through the night without a trp to the ER but got no sleep. Here I am again waiting to see what happens. I have tried O2....had a nightmare with Apria long after the O2 quit working. I hadit explained to me once that some people develop a resistance to meds faster than others. Seems to be the case with me. As for changing doctors...I'm having good vibes from the pulmonologist who is treating me for sleep apnea. I'm on my 2nd neuro who, after 22 years of dancing with hte beast has now decided I don't really have "cluster type headaches" The last one promised to cure me. Living in rural Kansas I have limited options. My primary care phys. actually does a pretty good job in a pinch. Still working on getting Kudzu but need to know how it will react to other meds first as well as effect blood sugar, etc. as I am diabetic. Gonna have to research this myself as doc won't even discuss alternitives. ANy Kudzu specialist have answers? Thanks everyone for your help and support. PFD&N to all Kim |
