Title: uncertian Diagnosis Post by Islander1949 on Jul 24th, 2005, 7:54pm I would like to start off by passing my condolances on to all sufferers of Head Pain. I'm not sure I'm a Cluster Head but here goes. I got my first headache a year and a half ago. It was like a mild sinus headache at first but when It came back the next day and the day after I felt it was something much worse. I went to a doctor who passed it off as a migraine even though I never suffered a migraine in my life but when the swelling started over my left eye and the stabbing pain couldn't be relieved I started to look on the internet for the answers. I found Cluster Headache, or should I say it found me . I Returned to my doctor with the information and he brushed it off said that he couldn't diagnose me as a cluster sufferer cause it was only one headace and due to my history with sinusitus, put me on antibiotics and within two weeks the headaches and swelling finally subsided and I was back to normal. I then procedded to see an ENT specialist who did a further CT scan and who previously did Sinus surgery on me. his Prognosis was inevitably surgery once again. I Declined to go through that torture again and here I am a year and a half later with a new headahe and the swellings back. I can't help but to wonder has anyone else out there gone through a similiar history with this or have doctors pointed to sinus infections prematurely in the past? Oh and about the swellling mine didn't coume till after a day or two with the Headache first, over the left eye and around the eye itself. does this sound like a cluster to you? |

Title: Re: uncertian Diagnosis Post by unsolved1 on Jul 24th, 2005, 8:02pm I don't think we have enough information to give an opinion yet. How long do your headaches last? Where is the pain located at? Describe the pain. Do headaches wake you from sleeping? Are you able to go to sleep with a headache? Are you able to sit still or lie down during a headache? Unsolved |

Title: Re: uncertian Diagnosis Post by Kris_in_SJ on Jul 24th, 2005, 8:15pm Take the cluster quiz to the left of the board. Then read the medical info to see if you might fit the profile. Personally, I get mild swelling in my affected temple, but not until I've been in cycle for a couple weeks. Mostly I have a constant droop in one eye in varying degrees that has lasted since my very first cycle. However, it's important to note that clusters are often mistaken for sinusitis and many of us have been down that road. Start a headache diary. Note the times of day, the duration, the scale of pain from 1 to 10, what you take, what works and doesn't, etc. Take your diary to the doc for your next appointment. If you truly believe you fit the cluster profile, get a referral to a compentent neurologist who specializes in headaches. Hugs and PF Wishes, Kris |
