Title: Positive or negative Post by scamrtst on Jul 17th, 2005, 8:33pm Hi all- Unfortunately a new member (or at least misdiagnosed for several years) to the CH community. I have a question about "alternative therapies". I know that people with other painful afflictions have turned to marijuana. Does anyone know what affects pot might have; possitive or negative? I am looking to try anything at this point. [smiley=pokeeye.gif] |

Does that mean you haven't tried it yet? Considering it has negative (ineffective) results, you'd be hard pressed to find much interest in it for clusters. Kevin M |

Title: Re: Positive or negative Post by scamrtst on Jul 17th, 2005, 9:04pm Thanks Kevin- Not for CH's at least, I hung with a fairly liberal crowd in college. But so far nothing has really worked and I just happened to read an article in the LA times about medical marijuana in California (It is legal here in CA with a perscription) and it got me thinking. But I am wary of doing anything which might be a trigger. Damnit I am even avoiding soft cheeses and God knows I do enjoy my Brie and stilton. |

Yeah, the '69 landing on the moon influenced me a lot too. Needed more to escape atmosphere. Keeping my feet on the ground is cool now, and hard enough.. They have to have good doctors in CA. Seen a good one? Kevin M |

Title: Re: Positive or negative Post by AussieBrian on Jul 17th, 2005, 9:53pm I can think of lots of other things I'd try first especially as some the things I've tried have been ...er... ineffective to say the least. Either way, good luck. |

Title: Re: Positive or negative Post by nani on Jul 17th, 2005, 11:29pm Some people find it a trigger. No one (at least to my knowledge) has found it helpful. If you want to try an alternative that has shown promising results, look here. http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=meds;action=display;num=1110584362 Interesting nickname. Nothing that I have referenced indicates it has any value for CH sufferers. Check any news sources lately? The Federal Govenement determined that Medical marijuana is NOT-LEGAL anywhere - regardless of legally enacted state laws. Numerous raids and arrests have/are occurring in states that legalized marijuana use for medical purposes. Just thought you would want to know. Tom |

Title: Re: Positive or negative Post by hdido on Jul 18th, 2005, 11:54am A word of caution to those living in Germany who may travel to The Netherlands to get some weed in one of the many "coffee houses" that sell it legally: if you get stopped while driving in Germay and a blood/urine test is done and cannabis is found in your blood/urine, you are in for a big fine and possible suspension or loss of your driving license. Remember, it can take up to 2 weeks for all traces of cannabis to get out of your system as it is stored in body fat and the metabolite is slowly released into your blood (and the German cops and judicial system don't mess around!). |

Title: Re: Positive or negative Post by Margi on Jul 18th, 2005, 12:36pm Scamrtist, pot's a trigger for most clusterheads. You'd be better off checking out www.clusterbusters.com or read up on kudzu if you're more into trying alternative treatments. Seriously, dude, your screenname is just begging to be ridiculed. This website has been plagued with folks preying on people in pain by trying flog worthless "cures" for years and it's never received well. I know you're not doing that but, maybe tell us your real first name? |

Margi, if he wants to be "scmartist, he can be scamartist. Probably be best if he didn't ask for anyone's credit card numbers, but hey if anyone's dumb enough. Kind of like investing in Krispy Kreme -- the CEO's name was Livengood. Hmmmm.... and then the problems started coming out that he was a little liberal with the pay...... It will get some attention to your posts though, everyone watching and waiting till you finally, after 20 posts talk about some chelation therapy that has drawn all the mercury out of your system and ever since you can play the piano like a ringin' the bell. welcome. |

Title: Re: Positive or negative Post by nani on Jul 18th, 2005, 1:12pm OK Sean, now we get it. You'd be surprised how many real scam artists and snake oil peddlers we get here. Welcome. :) And really....look at kudzu, LSA and psilocybin. They've helped many. Not everyone, but many. PF wishes, nani |

Title: Re: Positive or negative Post by RichardN on Jul 19th, 2005, 1:18am Welcome Sean . . . . and thanks for clearing up the screenhandle. Only positive thing I can think of about mixing pot and clusters . . . . your stash will last a lot longer when in cycle. If you try it while getting hit, I suggest 02 and trex at hand. Title: Re: Positive or negative Post by Kiwiinoz58 on Jul 20th, 2005, 8:09pm My partner and I were at a friends house the other day when my daily CH's started. He suggested pot as he reckoned it helped his wife's migraines. I did the usual of telling him they are not the same and didn't want to try it (even though I'm a sixties child I'd never gotten into it) Unbeknown to me he put some in a couple of my cigarettes. Well as you can guess I had the worst pain ever, thought I was going to die then wished I could :'( Next day he asked how my headaches were and of course I realized what he'd done. Boy I've never felt more like killing someone. Well meaning idiots?? Cheers, Jacqs |

Title: Re: Positive or negative Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Jul 22nd, 2005, 5:09pm I have never heard any positive results from weed either. As a matter of fact, the best thing i have ever heard about it is that is doesnt TRIGGER an attack. I think that it helps other kinds of pain, but not clusters. If you have no other meds in your system, you should try the mushroom treatment. I tried that twice and think it may be responsible for giving me relief. However, if you have other CH related meds in your system, IE verapimil or Trex, it is not advised. Oxygen and Imitrex are probably the 2 most popular abortive med. Both work well for me. PF wishes BMonee |
