Title: A little help here please. Post by robtara on Jun 24th, 2005, 4:48pm ;;D Howdy. I am searching for some answers and thought maybe some of you might be able to help. I realize no one here can diagnose me but perhaps you could clear some things up for me and guide me in the right direction. I am dealing with a headache and am trying to figure out the cause. My eye Dr suggested it was a cluster headache and suggested I see my neurologist. But some of the details do not match that of a cluster headache. I thought maybe if I bounced them off of you someone out there might relate to this or perhaps some of you might be able to say no this is not a cluster headache and guide me in the right direction. Ok here is my symptoms. Dec 20, 2000 I got a headache. It has not gone away ever. It increases and decreases in intensity. At the best of times it is mild and a constant pain. It is not one sided but mostly frontal. Then when it increases in intensity is is one sided on my left side. I cannot lie down and rest light you do with a migrain. I will cry, rock and pull my hair as hard as possible. My eye does not droop. My left eye does turn horribly red and it will stay red for about 3 days then clear up. As for nasal conjestion...well I always seem to have a runny nose so I can't really comment on that. My headaches will get bad and become unbearable for a while then let up some but then come back shortly after. It is hard to see them as clusters when they are so frequent. AT all time though I have this consant headache but is can go from a noce 3 in pain level and then boom it is a 10. Sometimes I can go 3 weeks with a 3 headache but when it shoots up to a 10 then I know I am in for a painful period of headaches. Does the constant headache rule out cluster headache? Could I be suffering form 2 headaches. I am soooo confused. The eye thing defintly makes it a vascular headache but what kind. I can't find any other kind other than migrain and that doesn't really match. No vision changes, no nasua, no light sensitivity. And laying still does NOT work. There is no such thing as falling alseep with this headache and it often wakes me up. Any help will be greatly appreciated. And by the way I sooooo feel for anyone with a headache. The while thing that gets me is if anyone asks what's wrong and you say "I have a headache" most people don't even know what you really mean. Headache is such a wrong term. Maybe head-extrutiating, I want to die-ache. That might be more like it. Thank you. Tara PS I am a 34 year old female, mother of a 4 year old. I have been dx with Multiple Sclerosis and live in West Virginia. So howdy to you all. ;;D |

Title: Re: A little help here please. Post by Bob_Johnson on Jun 24th, 2005, 7:21pm The constant pain, even if it varies somewhat in intensity, would tend to rule out cluster. That being said, constant pain of any kind needs a diagnosis. There are a goodly number of eye disorders which lead to headache and on the list goes. Don't wait for a Dx here, please. |

Title: Re: A little help here please. Post by bnfreeman on Jun 24th, 2005, 7:22pm I think there is a possibility you could be a clusterhead. I do the same thing, I " shadow" constantly with little relief. But on many days I will get the high kips at 6pm or 6am. At 1pm the shadow can rise to a 5 then dies down. I have only been this way since March. Before that I was being hit multiple times a day without the shadows. I have been diagnosed with cluster migraine combo. So I get hit with a 10 and it won't go away at all. Most clusters will go away after an hour so. But I'm no doctor either, so see yours soon. Make sure it's someone who knows about clusters like a headache specialist. Good Luck, Brandi |

Title: Re: A little help here please. Post by robtara on Jun 24th, 2005, 9:46pm Thanks for everyones input. No it does not feel like sand in my eyes. It feels like pain behind my eyes. As for medicine. Well this headache started without me being on medication. I have since been on and off medicines. I recently...within the last 6 months ceased all medications for months to no avail so i have slowly started back on only 2 meds needed to maintain my Multiple Sclerosis. My eye Dr said it was definitly vascular due to the eye problems. I am going to see my neurolgist about this. My eye Dr said it was not an eye disorder and I have been MRId Cat Scanned and tested to death so it isn't a brain tumor or anything. Thanks to all and any other input is greatly appreciated. Tara |

Title: Re: A little help here please. Post by lionsound on Jun 24th, 2005, 10:01pm Hi tara, I do not have MS, but I was wondring if you knew that a some of the meds used for MS can also sometimes be used as prevents for HA? The HA specialist(neuro) i used to go to also was an MS specialist. That is not always the case and many times neurologists that know something about headaches are not headache specialists. And it is possible to have more than one HA type going on..I do. But you do need to talk with your neuro very soon to try and get it all straightened out. Sorry you are in so much pain. Please let us know how you make out. Be well and Pain free, lionsound |

Title: Re: A little help here please. Post by Jasen on Jun 25th, 2005, 4:26pm I am a cross over so to speak. Cluster/migranes. I get them 2-4 times a day usuely a K7-9 everyday. But they can last for hours on end. They start in the eye everytime. Sometimes a runny nose, droopy eye, blood shot eye. Cluster are generaly fast, sharp, short and offen. Compaired to migranes which are generaly slow, dull, long and a few a month. But everyone is different. Find a Neuro that specailizes in headaches. Better days :) |
