Title: How does a Chronic cycle.............. Post by Kim Y. on Jun 22nd, 2005, 12:09pm Work. I guess I will tell you what I am asking. I am starting into my eighth month of the beast and I know you wait 1 year before you even think you are chronic. I just want to know does a Chronic get hits a lot of the time or do they just have shadows up to Kip 6 and an occasional Kip 10 when ever it wants to come? I am just asking random question? I have hit a confusing time in my cycle. I am dealing with it ok just lost and looking for answers. Please forgive me if this has already been asked......Thanks Ps..I know everyone is different just want a general idea. PF wishes................Kim |

Title: Re: How does a Chronic cycle.............. Post by nani on Jun 22nd, 2005, 12:16pm I think that everyone is different. My CHs have always been kind of atypical. You can't set a clock by them, I rarely got hit above a k7, and I almost never got hit at night. Prior to kudzu, most days included lots of heavy shadows and 2-4 low level (k4 or 5) hits. Some chronics here are hit at high levels several times a day. I think it's the nature of this beast to keep us guessing. >:( pf wishes and hugs, nani |

Title: Re: How does a Chronic cycle.............. Post by E-Double on Jun 22nd, 2005, 12:23pm Hiya Kim, I personally think that I have cycled within this cycle...... I have days where there are only mid level shadows and I have days that are repeated beatings. I also have days where I feel fine and then get whacked out of no where. There were 2 seperate periods.once in July and once is October where I thought it was ending b/c I had reprieve for nearly a week but then they picked up again. This is still fairly new to me being that I was always a clear cut episodic with very short cycles. Life's good and in my opinion the one perk, iff you can call it that is that I no longer have any anxiety over CH... It is what it is!! Enjoy, E |

Title: Re: How does a Chronic cycle.............. Post by Kim Y. on Jun 22nd, 2005, 12:42pm I run as high as a Kip7 for the last 4 weeks. No real hits. Not that I am complaining or anything its just really wierd. My anziety has gone down as well but is due to meds. If I weren't on Lexapro bad moods. Two days I forgot and let me tell day two I was weeping and tears. I am pathetic I know. I get my bad ones at work but am able to just blow them off because they are so normal anymore. I still apply pressure to the head in hopes they will subside. Life will never be normal all together I think. Quote:
Thanks for the quick responses.....Kim |

Title: Re: How does a Chronic cycle.............. Post by Leggs on Jun 22nd, 2005, 7:45pm When I had my semiannual episode in February, it kept up until PAST 5 weeks, that's when I went to the neurologist. When it started getting irregular, where I was not waking up at 3am on the money, where it was hitting me at different times in the afternoon, it just all the sudden STOPPED after a month an a half. Praying the irregularity means you are busting out of it. |

Title: Re: How does a Chronic cycle.............. Post by BarbaraD on Jun 22nd, 2005, 9:21pm I've been chronic since Oct of 97. Sometimes I get a week or so "off", but most of the time I at least have shadows. I think we discussed "high" cycles and "low" cycles a while back. There are times I get hit worse than others (spring and fall) and times when I think I'm in remission (wishful thinking). But like E-D said -- it's what it is and you live with it. No anxiety over when they're coming back -- they just never leave. Hope yours ends soon and you go back to episodic. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: How does a Chronic cycle.............. Post by Connie on Jun 22nd, 2005, 9:27pm Kim, My husband has just hit 9 months (has been episodic for 10 years). His have become very irregular over the past three months, he can go days, sometimes up to a week totally pain free. Then he gets hit with low level ones that the O2 aborts. On occassion, he may need an injection. We keep thinking this is the end but so far still there. He confirms it by trying a beer, within the hour, he gets hit hard, so we know he is still in cycle. I can only hope this is it (it has been 5 days but we are not excited yet as we have been down this road before. Hopefully you both are near the end. Connie |

Title: Re: How does a Chronic cycle.............. Post by Connie on Jun 22nd, 2005, 9:29pm One more thing. It rarely wakes him up anymore. Sometimes when he feels twinges (as I call them) at night, he just tries to fall asleep with no meds, or O2 and it usually works. Go figure. |

Title: Re: How does a Chronic cycle.............. Post by burnt-toast on Jun 22nd, 2005, 10:28pm Eight months of this crap is an eternity and can wear anyone down. You might not be technically chronic but it is a chronic problem. Hang in there. From my experience - every cycle regardless of its length is different and over the course of each year several changes in frequency and severity occur. My first ON cycle lasted 2 years, my shortest ON cycle was 1 year and my current ON cycle is nearing 3 years. Fortunately I get an infrequent 1 to 3mos remission every few years that always occurs between July and September. I'm crossing my fingers for this year. With the exception of the months my remissions occur there is very little that is consistent with this disease and its cycles. I tell folks that I'm primarily chronic. Good luck and best wishes on not being chronic, or primarily chronic. Tom |

Title: Re: How does a Chronic cycle.............. Post by ClusterChuck on Jun 22nd, 2005, 11:18pm Kim, ALWAYS remember the following: Just when you have your cycle or hits, figured out, the beast shows his cunningness, and changes! He ALWAYS has something up his sleeve, the ba$tard!! I have been chronic for 7 years. "Normally" I had one or two hits a day, anywhere from a KIP 4 to 9. Those were easy to adjust to, and live with. Within my chronicness, I would have cycles of up to 8 hits a day, for a month or so, and then back to my "normal". Since July of 2003, I have been getting hit up to 15 times a day, up to one KIP 10. So what is "normal"? "Normal" is constant change! Good luck, and hang in there. You CAN survive this. Chuck |

Title: Re: How does a Chronic cycle.............. Post by bnfreeman on Jun 22nd, 2005, 11:30pm I have only had CH for about 2 years. Last summer they went away for a few months only to come back full force in October of 2004. Each month they got worse until this April. I shadow every day. Usually not more than a 3. Only had one 10 where I had to go to the ER .Some up to an 8. But I get migraines too. I have actully had more migraines than full blown CH. Had a beer to test the waters and by the time I was done it hit me. The shadow is always on the right side. Since I am still new to this in a way I still deal with the anxiety of it. Trying a bunch meds to battle it all out. Best wishes to everyone! BF |
