Title: Saw the ENT today Post by Jasen on Jun 9th, 2005, 8:32pm (nose Dr.) Said it looks like I have a low grade nasal infection and game me some anti-B's. Also said I could have had this for years without it ever getting worse. Said it could be part of the cause. Got a sinus CT as well. Haven't heard back about it yet. My Neuro. upped my Verapamil to 75 mg. twice a day and gave me a Migranal sample and 'scrip to try. She doesn't think I have Hemacranial (sp) because I'm still getting attacks even though the meds. keep the beast from getting out of the cage. Better days :) |

Title: Re: Saw the ENT today Post by Kris_in_SJ on Jun 9th, 2005, 8:56pm Sorry Jasen, but I guess I don't know your history. I've been gone from the board a couple of weeks. Do you have diagnosed clusters? If so, Verapamil at 150mg/day is unlikely to do diddly for your problem. 480mg/day or more is usual during cycle, and oxygen or Imitrex injections (or nasal spray) are standard for abortives. Pills of any kind are usually too slow to help. I should also say that most have us have been treated for non-existent sinus infections, infected teeth, etc., without any improvement in our situations. If those antibiotics don't help within a few days, get thee to a doc who can actually help. PF Wishes, Kris |

Title: Re: Saw the ENT today Post by bnfreeman on Jun 10th, 2005, 11:23am Hopefully you don't have the CHs. Sometimes the migranal works and sometimes it does. This time of year my cycle dies down but doesn't completely go away. I tried to drink a beer last night. That was a mistake. I used O2. But I could feel it coming back. I had some Migranal as my back up to imitrex, which I am out of. My HA started on the left side. Used the spray and it went away only to start on the right and then used the spray on that side. Damn HAs are too smart for me. Hope you have good news coming your way! Brandi |

Title: Re: Saw the ENT today Post by Jasen on Jun 10th, 2005, 1:22pm Kris, at this point I've been diagnosed with cluster/migrains possible hemacrabial (sp) ::) My symptons are kind of all over the place. The Indomethecain and Verapamil are keeping the beast at bay but not completly out of the picture. I've gone from k8-K9's 3-5 times a day, most every day to K2-K3 So far all of the 4 abortives I've tried have caused severe rebounds rating a K9-K10 with in 3-4 day. Better days :) |

Title: Re: Saw the ENT today Post by jokrs2 on Jun 10th, 2005, 4:53pm OMG Jasen. Those rebounds you are getting sound very familiar. I have been chronic 6-8x per day for 20+ years with too many k-10 to remember. In my case I had to leave "conventional medicine, which had me on triptans and narcotics, and go to alternative medicine (which has put the beast to sleep for now). I pray for a continued reduction in kip scale and remission for you. Blessing's, Joe |

Title: Re: Saw the ENT today Post by Jasen on Jun 10th, 2005, 6:57pm Jokrs, I've been on, Imitrx, Relpax, Amerge and Frova. All worked great the frist day or two, good the second or third day, and after that, not so good, or emergancy room level rebouds. I just got Migranal, but haven' tried it yet. The Indomethcian, Verapamil, O2 and Oxycodone are working pretty good. What kind of alt. treatments are you doing? Better days :) |

Title: Re: Saw the ENT today Post by Punky on Jun 11th, 2005, 7:08am Hi, Jasen! Glad to see you made it to the ENT (that's one MD I haven't had the pleasure of paying yet!) ;) I finally got an appointment with the third neuro for me. She specializes in headaches. I go to see her August 16th. I found a couple of headache diaries online that offer free access. Since you seem to be having a lot of the same problems as I am, are you keeping a headache diary? I just started mine on two different sites to try and get two different types of data. Just a thought! I'm hoping with a few months worth of data they can finally officially diagnose me with SOMETHING!!! ;;D Have a wonderful day! Stacy |

Title: Re: Saw the ENT today Post by Jasen on Jun 11th, 2005, 6:47pm Punky, I do keep a diary. Just a pad of paper and pen at my bedside. I write down everyday, regardles if I've had trouble or not. Pain levels, pain area, time, duration, treatment. Then I write them up on the 'puter and give them to my Neuro. at each visit. She thinks it's great. It saves time, and is more percise then asking me questions and me having to remeber. She puts them all in my file. You should get better results with the new headache Neuro. Always good to see someone that specializes in headaches :) Better days :) |

Title: Re: Saw the ENT today Post by BarbaraD on Jun 12th, 2005, 7:25am A sip of beer used to trigger mine and I quit drinking beer for about 12 years. Last year I tried one and "nothing", so I CAN drink my beer again. Don't overdo it - only a couple occasionally. Guess the beast decided he didn't care about that anymore. finding a neuro who you can work with is a chore. I went thru most of the "headache specialists" in Texas before I found one that actually knew something about ch. Keep trying till you find one. BTW - if you need a neuro in a hurry - get your primary doc to put you in the hospital (or ER) and call for a consult. That's the fastest way to get seen. Good Luck and hugs BD |
