Title: Anyone getting hit exceptionally hard this cycle??
Post by GlendaB on Jun 3rd, 2005, 2:38pm
I know we all get hit hard but for me this cycle seems more intense.  Oxygen has worked for me in the past but so far this time notta at 8lpm but I ususally use 12lpm.  Of course they are suppose to be bringing my high flow regulator out today before five.  They only had one that would go up to 8 to give me until they could get one and bring it out to me by 5 today.  I just hope and pray that oxygen still works for me and that it is just the flow rate is to low.

Mine have been really bad as well, I just attribute it to getting older and less ability to handle pain...dunno why?  [smiley=huh.gif]

Really bad here, as well. Wondering if the weather has had anything to do with it.

Yes, worst spring CH epsiode ever by far.   Weather related?  Where does everyone live?  I live in Northeast where it's been one of the coldest and dreariest of May's on record.

Surprised to hear this from others.  I've been dealing with these for years and the intensity not the frequency (thank GOD, I can barely deal with 3-4 and occasionally 5 nightly) has been reaching biblical proportions since FEB.

HOKEY SPIT!  I have been virtually HA free since Nov 2003 and this cycle from out of nowhere has come to take me this time for sure!  To add to this cycle, in the middle of a CH I get a bonus migraine, alternating sides, but of course anything that works on the migraine doesn't touch the CH, as well as can't be taken within 24 hrs of whatever i take for the CH, and vice versa!  I would take back my pain free years for the certainty of the previous 27 years!
If anyone can help PLEASE DO!!

Me too.  Unmedicated I was chronic.  I had only had minor clusters and very small cycles for the past year, but the last month has been hell.  I had so many that Imitrex didn't even come close to touching mine yesterday.

Interesting.  After years of getting these things I thought that I had them figured out.  Been getting them consistently, only every 2 1/2 years or so - and for 4 to 6 weeks.  Always treated them with Immitrex and Tylenol #3.

This time when it hit, I went to a specialist headache neurologist who put me on verapomil (240 mg) and prednisone (60 mg for 3 weeks then two week tapering off).  Thought I was in heaven.  First 10 days almost no pain - then it hit - but even then once a day and tried Zomig (spray) - if successful - headache gone in 10 to 15 minutes.  wow.

But now for the kicker!  It is now week 9 and they are not going away - seem to be stuck with a never ending cycle.  The tylenol #3 do nothing, so this week I switched to percoset - also useless.  I am worried that I am stuck on the Zomig as this seems to be the only thing that is effective.  I tried to not take it for a day - but then I could not tolerate the pain as nothing else helped and after 3 to 4 hours of hell, I gave in.  So now I am stuck taking Zomig daily - will it ever end.

I spoke to the Doctor about rebounding from the Zomig and he insists that it is not possible (after all, he led a huge Zomig study so he must be right - right?

So after all this long input, yes, the longest cycle I have ever had and I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

In the 5 years since I've been dealing with CH, this the worst, both intensity and frequency. Longest cycle to date, and still not over.

hey all,  I've been pain free for 3 yrs after getting them annually jan/feb.
suddenly last week they came back.  not the usual start, but quickly escalated.  I think either a food or weather.  NY went from 50-60 degrees to 90's all humidity.  I have been hearing complaining from people about headaches, not clusters.   Good luck.
