...with a  cup of 'shroom tea and i'm petrified - i think. I want to know that i'm doing the right thing. It's been many years since i did anything like this and then it was recreational.

i stopped because i'd grown out of it and it no longer had any relevance for me.

have never had any intention of doing something like this again.

BUT.... like so  many of us i'm at the end of my tether. Coupled with that  I lost a close relative at the w/end in a bad rta.

i need to be strong/well for those around me.

God, I don't really know what i'm asking you guys - other than to support me in taking that first sip.

Shit - I sound like an alcoholic asking his group to cheer him on whilst having his first drink.

LMAO....just make sure you dont take to big of a dose....im sure you did your research on this.

I have never spoken in a negative way against shrooms....ever

John, I to used to partake in the, umm, fun drugs. It's been more then 18 years sense then, I know how you feel. It's not worth it, hang in there, and get through this sad time with the help of freinds and family. You'll be glad and feel better about yourself later.

No you don't. I've never tried the tea alternative but I'd be willing to bet that most of those that have were thinking just like you.

Like Jonny said, please don't over do it. If it doesn't help the first time it can be repeated later.

We know you didn't get to this point without a lot of research and soul searching.

I am right there with you. I think the tea is my next step. I am so tired of trying new medicine and fooling with my team of doctors. Good Luck and don't let the tea burn your toungue!

sorry to all for not coming back sooner on this. Yes it worked, am now pf for 8 days -  didn't want to say something sooner in case.

Very strange experience - i swear i could feel it nibbling away at all my cluster centres. almost like a gradual dismantling.

i have to add though that i didn't enjoy the experience much but am ever so pleased to be pf 4 now.

Sorry I missed this thread when you began it. Thanks much to jonny, BobG, Don and the rest.

Congrats on the early success. What you describe above is pretty common for a successful treatment. Difficult to explain because it's such a different feeling from what you get with conventional meds. Even the ones that provide relief. It's just "different" and more of a "dismantling" (as you described it) than a covering up.

Could you tell us how much you used in the tea?

The feelings you had about taking that first sip are very common. Hell, it took me a full year of research before I finally took my first dose.

About 10g (fresh) of the mildest available - mexican I think. I was fortunate that as soon as I said Cluster-Headaches the guy in the shop (still legal here for a little longer) told me he had a couple of regulars and this what they normally took.

I know, "size doesn't matter" but.... ;)
Just so people can get an idea of the amount used...
10 grams fresh would equal about 1 gram dried.

1 gram dried and ground up fits into 2 size "00" capsules. Thats about the size of Centrum and other multi-vitamin tabs.

It's too bad your government has decided that you and the other "regulars" are better off without them. >:(

When you consider the cost to the british national health per one of my episodes - and you guys over there who have to finance it yourselves or deal with insurance companies, know only too well how much these meds cost - it seems bizarre that a single cap or cup tea of something that grows natrually and can make such a qualative difference to a sufferer's life should be or become illegal.

i don't like the effects but it worked.

on ther other hand i hate the effects of prednisone (uk name), zomig, verapamil, and any other bugger that i've tried and use regularly.

a few days of wierdness, sure beats the hell out of a 3-month or longer episode that fucks with my heart, fitness, skin, emotional state and marriage etc.

More  medical research neede here big time imo

Sorry, bit late here Zebb, but glad you made it through.

Please don't make the mistake of not considering a maintenance dose, if at all possible.  It appears that it's much easier to prevent a cycle from starting in the first place than it is to stop a bout once firmly established.
