Title: A light at the end of the Tunnel Post by Matt Rutherford on May 26th, 2005, 11:18am Hi My Name is Matt, for about 10 years I have been suffering these 'Headaches'. I have been to the doctors and they had no answers, one even suggested taking normal pain killers and riding it out!!!! Recently my Mum (who just happens to be a nurse) read an article about Cluster Headaches and suggested that it may be what I was suffering with. I Entered CH in a searh engine, and all these sites came up. Looked at the first site and it decribed my pain to the letter. It was a revelation. For so long I thought I was alone, and was something I would just have to deal with for the rest of my life. I feel like I am half way to taming the beast. My problem is I am wary about taking lots of different prescribed drugs. I have read about Kudzu on this site. Does anyone have further info on this or any other alternative remedies I could use in the battle against the dark lord? |

Title: Re: A light at the end of the Tunnel Post by blueeyes_rn on May 26th, 2005, 11:52am Matt, There is a website with guidelines doctors are supposed to follow... If your Mum is a nurse she can translate the medical lingo for you but it has the BEST, proven, therapies (abortive and preventattive) out there!www.guielines.gov just do a search and it should come up with a list and it's .... "Treatment of primary headache: cluster headache. Standards of care for headache diagnosis and treatment. National Headache Foundation - Private Nonprofit Organization. 2004. 14 pages." Good luck on your quest for shorter cycles and longer PF periods :) Are you chronic or episodic? blueeyes_rn |

And like you I thought I was the only one going crazy with these headaches. Then one day I found this website and knew I wasn't the only one. Good luck to you. Now when anyone asks about my headaches I tell them to go to this site and then they will understand. BF |

Like Kim said, this site has a wealth of information on clusters, treatments, and coping with them . Read all you can, ask questions, and soon you'll find a better understanding of what you're dealing with. I've had them for 28 years and still learning about 'em. WYPFDANS, Bob |

Title: Re: A light at the end of the Tunnel Post by marlinsfan on Jun 1st, 2005, 7:45pm Candycane is right! You are in the right place an the light is very bright for people like you and me. I just got here myself this past weekend, after 20+ years of being misdiagnosed. Thanks to this WONDERFUL place and all the people in it, I now have the right diagnosis confirmed by my neuro, the right abortive (imitrex & O2), transitional (steroids) and preventive (verapamil) to tame the beast. I also know that I'm in a cycle which will end in the next week or so, and should stay away for some time. READ, READ, READ. You'll be amazed how much good info is here! Jose |
