Title: prayers answered here!!!!!! Post by RACH on May 17th, 2005, 10:55pm Hi guys, sorry to leave you hanging, but it has been a rough weekend. To make a very long terrifying story short....Paul was in complete stage 3 heart block, he had emergency heart cath on sat. night they had to put in 7 stints to open his right coronary artery. he is going to be ok his heart is coming back, they took him off the internal temp pace maker today and his heart was working!!!!!!! the amazing thing is that he hasn't had a ch since fri. morning. i think it could be one of three things.... 1. god knew his body couldn't take both\ 2. his cycle is over (it never ends suddenly, always tapers. 3. the 100% blockage of his rca caused them ( this cycle has been worse than any, seems like as the blockage closed off the ch got worse!) please let me know what you guys think. i just know that by the grace of god and many angels here on earth i was able to get him where he needed to be before it was too late. i am exhausted, we'll talk more later!! thanks for the thoughts and prayers!! rach |

Title: Re: prayers answered here!!!!!! Post by miapet on May 18th, 2005, 9:19am We're so happy for you both . . .the heart and the lack of ch. I'm not a scientist, but it sounds reasonable to look at as a contributing factor, if only for the o2 relationship. Since o2 works for so many, the fact that the heart wasn't working, therefor oxygenated blood wasn't moving through the body well . . .. now that it is flowing again . . .voila, more o2 . . .whatever the reason, congratulations! *positive light and energy* miapet |

Title: Re: prayers answered here!!!!!! Post by floridian on May 18th, 2005, 12:29pm Did they pump him with lots of anti-coagulants?? There is an emerging link between poor circulation and clusters - the stents and drugs probably did have an effect. http://www.med-owl.com/clusterheadaches/tiki-index.php?page=Anticoagulants |

Title: Re: prayers answered here!!!!!! Post by RACH on May 18th, 2005, 5:41pm They did give him the stuff that makes the blood slippery, i don't know if it is coagulants or not, but whatever it is it is working. No headaches and he is supposed to move from icu today. Still waiting on the dr. It just seems to me that if little blood was flowing into the heart through the right coronary, that even less was flowing out to the brain and body and that could have been why this cycle was so bad. The worse the blockage got the worse the ch got. Oh well it might be a shot. If so, both are a miracle. We are very thankful for a shot at a long happy life together. Thanks for all the support, Rach |

Title: Re: prayers answered here!!!!!! Post by BikerBob on May 18th, 2005, 10:05pm Great news RACH, glad to hear that he's going to be OK... on 05/18/05 at 12:29:32, floridian wrote:
Of course they did, and he will probably be taking Plavix for the rest of his life. Floridian, your web page on anticoagulants says "This suggests that one possible part of the cluster headache mechanism involves increased clotting of the blood." See my reply to RACH's thread on May 14. Your anticoagulants page also says "Strokes and thrombosis are caused by 'thick' blood and clotting. Aneurysms and some hemmorages are caused by breaking blood vessels. The treatment for these is not the same - a blood thinner will make an active aneurysm worse." An aneurysm is a weak bulge in a blood vessel, not a breakage. A hemorrhage is a breakage. Blood thinners can make active hemorrhages worse, but it is my understanding that blood thinners can help prevent aneurysms from getting worse. Aneurysms and hemorrhages are less likely to occur when one is taking blood thinners because 'thick' blood is a significant contributing factor in causing aneurysms and hemorrhages in the first place. Also, perhaps you should mention prescription blood-thinners, like Plavix, in addition to OTC blood thinners. Bob |
