My doc put me on 50mg for 6 days and then 100mg from then on of Topamax today. He also upped my verapamil to 360mg a day, was 240mg. I hope this works for me, had a nasty headache this morning. Hate it when my O2 only shoves the headache backwards for awhile. Any inputs here would be great, thanks guys.

HI,

Be careful with the Topomax (also called "Dope-omax"). It can have some pretty nasty side effects in terms of memory loss, inability to think clearly, etc. Talk to your doc if you start experiencing any of that.

Personally, I find that 480mg/day of Verapamil is my magic dose (others here take more). Once it kicks in, the bad boys go away - though the shadows linger for a couple of weeks. I'm usually under control during a cycle with that, a Prednisone taper and Imitrex injections. Haven't tried O2 yet, cause I love that Trex!

Kris is right, dopeymax (as it's also called) has lots of side effects. I had pretty much them all... including a 24/7 ha on the same spot ch usually comes.

Whereas verpamil works with my head. The dose 400mg didn't work with me but 600mg had been wonderful... :)

Tried Topo last cluster. Got up to 150mg with no side effects and no change in the headaches.

I was on topamax for years and it worked wonders with me. I learned to take it at night -- didn't have the side effects. I tend to take all my meds at night cause I can't face pills in the morning..

I started out on 75mg and have been up to 400 when headaches broke thru and wouldn't go away. My normal dose was 100mg.

Good luck with it and I hope you have as good results as I did.

I tried the max.dose 600mg and had no luck with it. Just made me dummber.
