Title: Remission?
Post by gravelgirl on May 9th, 2005, 3:03pm
Good news all around:

My last HA was back on 4/30… 9 PF days!!!  After my visit to the neurologist back on 4/22, per her suggestion I quit all caffeine and chocolate.  I also started taking Verapamil, but have forgot to take it the past week… I’m horrible at remembering pills.

Can anyone suggest what my PF days can be attributed to?  Am I in some sort of remission?  Or was it not CH’s to begin with?  I have a follow-up neuro appointment on Friday and a MRI appointment on the 20th.

Suggestions?  Thoughts?

Thanks to all!

Hiya Bris,

glad you're PF....

It could have been just a very quick visit from our friend.
If I recall this was your very first experience....Many people who first experience CH have very brief cycles to begin with.

I hope it never comes back......BUT....Be prepared regardless!!!!

Keep stock of your meds and if ever (hope not) you get that familiar twinge.....you will know what to do.

Go have fun!!

Eric

Totally agree with Eric.  When CH first comes on, the cycles can sometimes be irregular.  I remember my first cycle was 1 week followed by 2 weeks PF and then another week of pain.  Now that I have had numerous cycles, its alot more regular.  Get hit everyday for 1-2 months.

I hope the beast leaves you alone.  Stock up on your meds and get prepared for next time.  There is always a next time.  Its enough just to worry about the headaches when they come, let alone trying to get meds.

PF wishes,
Allen

When I first got clusters I didn't know what they were. I thought they were bad migraines. I had them periodically until 7 months later when they stopped. I didn't know if I was cured or if it was medicine that I was on until October. They started again just like the year before last. So be prepaired because the beast is probably just sleeping! Good Luck- BF

how do you KNOW?  how often are your cycles?

many people know. many of us differently. For instance I have a pretty good idea my cycle over because there is a "clarity" that I wake up with in conjunction with a pain-free day or two. It's just a feeling. The only way I know for sure is when I take the leap of doing things that are triggers and there is no HA triggered.

If you're doing trigger behaviors and not getting hit -- your cycle is over -- no need to overanalyze it.
