Title: chronic?????? Post by HAMMERED on May 2nd, 2005, 9:55pm This is my fourth cycle with ch. The first two were 2 years apart. Number 2 and 3 where 2.5 apart and three and four were 3 years apart. The first three lasted 4-6 weeks. This one is still with me for 10 weeks now. The last three weeks I have kip 3 and 4's, before that I had many 8 and 9's. I take 540mg verapamil and inject 2mg of trex when needed. The big question is am i chronic? Hammered |

Title: Re: chronic?????? Post by E-Double on May 2nd, 2005, 10:01pm 1 yr or more without 30 consecutive PF days is how the IHS defines chronic. It makes no difference to me...episodic/chronic.... the pain sucks...deal the best you can and don't worry about it!!! you got a long way to go so just live and enjoy the moments! :) E |

What in the world makes you think you are chronic? Worry about that when it's been over a year, your still being hit five to six times a day with kip 10's.....and you've tried every med out there with no luck. You sound very lucky to me. Roxy 8) |

Yup, except it's illegal to carry O2 in the trunk here. I carry it in the back seat on the passenger side so I can get to it quickly. You may want to check with your O2 supplier to check if it's legal where you are to carry O2 in the trunk. Oh, and quit worrying about going chronic. There are worse things. A lot can happen in 9 months. The disease is going to progress or not as it sees fit. You are worrying over something you have absolutely no control over. Don't borrow troubles, you have enough of your own. Live your life for today. |

Title: Re: chronic?????? Post by thomas on May 3rd, 2005, 2:25pm Chronic, schmonick who cares? You are going to have short and long cycles, mild and severe cycles, and yes you may go chronic. But again, who cares? How you let CH affect your life is up to YOU and you alone. You can choose to let it rule your life, or you can be like most of us and fight the S.O.B. tooth and nail the whole way, never giving up. The choice is yours. |

Title: Re: chronic?????? Post by seasonalboomer on May 3rd, 2005, 2:43pm I've been lucky and always had cycles less than 6 weeks. My Dad has had them all over the board, from a souple weeks to more than a year at a time. It is, as others have said, all over the board. And best not to focus on too much... As for the statements that many make regarding the fact that they think they can handle being episodic, "but if I was chronic, I don't know what I'd do" Well, an extra long cycle will give you a chance to think about that and realize that those around are just as important during a long cycle as a short cycle, and that their love for you can carry you a long way. |

Title: Re: chronic?????? Post by BlueMeanie on May 3rd, 2005, 2:51pm Hi Hammered, I understand your anxiety of being Chronic. Your cycles in the past where realitively short. At 10 weeks your closer to the norm of episodic cycles. Don't worry, they'll end. My last cycle lasted 18 weeks and many here have had cycles much longer, not counting Chronics. As already mentioned, Chronic is a year long. I'm sure yours will be over much sooner than that. Take it one day at a time and try not to worry so much. Keep stocked on your Trex and 02 and you'll get through it. Vibes to ya. |

Title: Re: chronic?????? Post by Connie on May 3rd, 2005, 8:56pm Routine, we never leave home without AX, trex and 02 in the trunk. I wonder if its legal here in NJ. Sometimes a hassel when switching cars but well worth it if needed. |

Does "AX" mean axert? If so you must NOT take trex and AX in the same 24 hour period, unless of course you want to flirt with some major cardiovascular problems, ie death. |

Title: Re: chronic?????? Post by Connie on May 5th, 2005, 10:19pm Only card we carry, but I was trying to be funny. Like the commercial used to say (not sure if its still around) "American Express, don't leave home without it" We have now expanded on it to include Imitrex and O2. Hope I didn't say the wrong thing, like I did in another post "What's a typical day in the life of a chronic" Wouldn't want to offend anyone |

Title: Be chronic if you want, HAMMERED. Post by Mr. Happy on May 5th, 2005, 11:38pm Funny how meanings change from state to state. When I take the AX along, she's usually sitting in the front passenger seat. on 05/05/05 at 22:19:45, Connie wrote:
