Title: it's changing frequency (dx and cope folks) Post by her_redhed on Apr 25th, 2005, 8:35am what d'y'all know about frequencies? wife's h/a attacks started changing 2 days ago. morning "7" blast pushed back to early afternoon, knocked down to "4" with O2/Imitrex and knocked out for the evening with a nap. go figure. is it like that old video game asteroids, will the h/a's get shattered into parts or (hopefully) just go away peacefully? doc ramped up the verapamil (480mg) last week and topamax (300mg) yesterday. also extended the prednisone taper another week. she's taking melatonin (6mg) and some pain meds. god bless you folks for the support and information. michael |

Title: Re: it's changing frequency (dx and cope folks) Post by don on Apr 25th, 2005, 11:48am I would say that the frequency has changed due to the increased dosage of verapamil. Thats what it is supposed to do. Sounds like she's on the right path to PF days. |

Title: Re: it's changing frequency (dx and cope folks) Post by TonyG1 on Apr 26th, 2005, 9:08pm Agree with Don on this one. I started verap for this past cycle and noted the frequency and intensity of my HAs changed after being on the meds for about a week. Eventually, the HAs tapered down to only shadows and then finally the cycle ended (Oddly enough I could feel when the cycle ended vs. HAs being prevented by the verap). Good luck to you all & many PFDANs!! Tony |

If you weren't then there would be some real cause to worry. Once you find an effective treatment a lot of those emotions tend to abate. I've been suffering for 28 years and I'm STILL pissed! LMAO. |

Title: Re: it's changing frequency (dx and cope folks) Post by her_redhed on May 4th, 2005, 4:22pm spent the weekend at 'club meds' taking the dhe by iv. kicked the living stuff out of her. nausea, dehydration, etc. due to big time reax and side effects. ended up spending extra 3 days in hospital and 2 days after that she's still doing that stumble shuffle around the neighborhood. should add that even the neuro department of a big city hospital is baffled by clusters. but guess what, the headache pattern seems to have broken. couple of good sized ones here and there but whatever cycadian clock there is behind these things got really confused. they also dropped some meds in favor of lithium. anyone have thoughts on that one. thanks again, michael |

Title: Re: it's changing frequency (dx and cope folks) Post by her_redhed on May 4th, 2005, 9:52pm thanks jonny. she just started lithium, 300mg, which replaced depakote (bad reax) which replaced 'dope'amax (didn't work.) any side effects or advice regarding the lithium. she's been ok on the verapamil, 480mg, till this weekend, the nice hospital docs took her off everything (bad reax to DHE). by the way, from where we sleep in central mass.. that se expressway sure would look nice with some shiny new toll booths... |
