Title: Things change...
Post by Chonas on Apr 21st, 2005, 5:50pm
Hi, it's been quite a long time since my first CH attack, almost 16 years now, cycles always happened 1 or sometimes 2 times per year, with a duration of 2 to 4 months per cycle, 3 to 5 attacks per night/day, nothing new... the usual behavior, but this last cycle which began in November last year  and also lasted 2 months and as usual, on my right side of the head, it finally ended in December, the pain was gone... but... 2 weeks later, mid January this year, a brand new cycle began ON MY LEFT SIDE... yes... and it stayed there during 4 extra months. I paid a visit to my neuro and he said it was Ok, that it may also happen this way.
As you can see, I'm getting older (53) but the beast seems to be getting younger.

Hi Chonas,

I know that sometimes my CH switches sides. It happens to a lot of us and it aways seems to catch me off guard. Funny how you get used to the one side huring. for me, when it switches I have to get used to it all over again.

Is your left side cycle still continuing now?

be well and Pain free,

Hi Lionsound, well... it seems to have gone, but you never know. I've been pain free for a couple of weeks now. This Doctor of mine, I mean my neuro, always says it is Ok, this is normal and so on, it may be normal for him who does not have to deal with this 'normal' kind of things. Thanks Lionsound.

Wish they could actually be a bit mor helpful, right.

I mean my friend got a clean MRI,
and the doctor said, "well, at least we know
now that it is only Clusters...."

as if that life sentence was supposed
to be a cheerful news....

She felt like he was giving her a lollipop
and sending her home to play...
"Go on, your head will hurt an awful lot dear,
but you aren't dying of cancer...."

Geesh.

if they could....

Some on here have dreamed of carying aroudn a sledgehammer...so that when someone asks,
"how bad does it really hurt"  we could try....try...
to demonstrate....wink

but this is a secret burden.

We are soem of the brave, proud soldiers
designated to battle with the beast.

So fight on, kick it's butt to the ground,
and take no prisoner.....

He should have given her one of those fentanyl lollipops at least.

I should also add that my neuro, who happens to be a well known Prof. Dr., etc., etc., with plenty of medals hanging all over the walls, also quoted, in order to make me feel better: 'My friend, cancer can be cured,   cluster headaches can not'.  I suspect that, at least down here, Doctors don't pay enough attention to headaches like migranies, clusters, etc. they seem to  think we should be happy that we've got this stupid clusters, instead of something more real and dangerous.  Maybe someday a very important human being, let's say a King or a Politician, will suffer CHs and then Doctors will be put to investigate and learn a lot about this never ending painful cluster headaches.
