Title: CH and Dreaming
Post by islandsonja on Apr 18th, 2005, 11:38pm
I am a 43 year old housewife who has been having CH for a year and a half now. This last series has lasted almost six months. Now I think they are effecting my dreams. Yesterday morning I dreamed that I walked in to a business where four teenage girls had decided to stab someone to death just to see what it was like. I was going to be the victim. Before they could get near me, I awoke with a CH.
Then this morning, I dreamed my husband got in to an argument with several men in front of our home. The men pulled out knives and came at us. My son was there and was stabbed in the arm. Then a man came at me and I grabbed a knife. Then I woke up and jumped out of bed. My CH had begun.
My dreams are horrible. My CH are worse. Im getting fatigued and fuzzy headed from no sleep. I know that you should keep a regular sleep pattern, but when almost every night  has 2 to 3 CH and now horrible dreams, I dont plan on going to sleep tonight. I know that may be wrong, but Im just about reaching my witts end. I dont think I can take much more.

Sorry to see yet another battle with the beast, but at least you have found some folks here that know and care. As far as the dreams go I get some strange ones too. God bless and dont ever let the beast win. ;;D

Malatonin. Provvides a quality sleep and will keep you out of the dream cycle. Its cheap and OTC.

I swear by it both in and out of cycle and I'm the first guy to say the OTC stuff, herbals, and supplements are trash.

Try it.

Wish I could, but my doc says no due to a genetic liver condition.

Islandsonja.
I would ask your doctor about some other type of REM blocker, as if CH isn't enough of that. Usually my CH blocks dreaming completely. It is really unfortunate that you can't do melatonin because with that I can get about 4 hrs of sleep and then wake up before the attack. Then I make sure I am upright, take my morning kudzu and 1 cup of coffee, and that's it for my night and sleep. If I don't follow this routine and I dream they become very weird and I wake up with a bad CH. I hope your situation resolves itself soon. Blessings and vibes your way, Joe

Morning,

I'm really sorry to head about your CHs and bad dreams.  I know this will sound petty, but maybe the bad dreams were something to do with the news about the woman who was stabbed to death in McDonalds two days ago.  I know it was all over our newspapers and on the tv news.

Did you have bad dreams with your earlier CHs?

Just an idea.

Take care

Marta

What meds are you on?

Some meds can cause nightmares.  Trust me!  Especially if just beginning on it or increasing the dose.

hang in there,
Renee

Hi islandsonja

I like to fall asleep with the TV on, low volume, with a channel that I know will have late late infomercials on all night.  I know this sounds crazy, but I find that these TV sales people are very positive in their speaking and encouragement, and the programs are not interupted by regular commercial breaks.  So when I start dreaming I get all these positive thoughts mixing in with my dreams and then the dark dreams can't get started.  It doesn't really change the CH cycles, but it helps me cope sometimes.

I'm sending good vibes...

I blame meds from the weird dreams I have...
Anyways, I'm so sorry that you have ch. It's great that you've found us! :) Godspeed with ch.

Best wishes,
Sandie

Thanks so much for all your comments and questions. I dont feel so alone when I know there are people who do actually understand communicating with me. in response I didnt see anything in the news about a woman being stabbed to death in the McDonalds, I just think that my fear of this stabbing pain every night may be the reason. It could also be the med that I am on. I was taking tegratol and maxalt but just changed to depakote sr and migranal. I also take medication for a Thyroid condition called levothyroxine and some type of prescribed vitamin for severe anemia. My doctors also tell me my ana level is not right and that I have some sort of autoimmune condition that I need to have a biopsy. They want  to test for Lupus, so there are a number of things that could be causing these dreams. I stayed up half the night last night and finally decided to go to sleep around 3:30. I didnt have any bad dreams and only 2 small CH episodes. Maybe things are looking up. Thanks for all of you for responses.  Sonja

I sometimes get the night ones as well, wake my butt right up, but I really haven't had a problem with dreams, just wish the pain was a dream. Hang in there and you have found a great bunch of people here who care and will help!  8)

Morning,

How are you today?  How is that beast of yours?

I can't believe it, but after what I had written to you I had a horrible dream last night that I was carrying the plague through Europe by train.  I was being chased by soldiers with machine guns.  No, it wasn't a fantasy. I woke up with a major CH and thought of you and the message you left on the board.

Apologies for my first note to you.

With a coffee in one hand and a shot in the other

Thinking of you

Marta

Hi Marta,
Sorry to hear about your dream. I hope your doing better. I have started taking new meds and I decided to try to stay up and try to stop the next CH. I guess it happened. The last two nights I have stayed up til at least 3 am before going to bed. Then I try to get a few hours later before they have a chance to attack. I have been taking naps in the daytime. I have had very few daytime attacks, mine are mostly nocturnal. So far so good. My longest time without out a CH since November has been 5 days, I hope to make it that far this time. Take Care and stay PF. Sonja

Hi Sonja,

What have I got to complain about?  You poor poor thing.  All that time with CH.  You're so brave.  I'm really lucky compared to you.  At least I am pretty sure that in a few weeks my CHs should be over for a couple of years and the injection site bruises will be gone.

All my love

Marta
