Hi to all! I have a question I haven't seen in the postings and I'd like to know if anyone has experienced the same....

I've been having seasonal (twice/yr for 3 mo each) clusters for the past 15 years, all on the left side of my head. A couple years ago my neurologist sent me for an MRI. There was an infarction on the brain but nothing to worry about he says, because it was caused by the headaches...and he has 3 of them!

Anyway, this past February during one of our 24 snowstorms (Thank God Spring is here!) I fell and landed hard on my back, but my head did not hit the ground. After this, I noticed a significant hearing loss in my left ear. I had been losing hearing before this but just left it to regular aging.

My primary doc sent me to have a hearing test and, lo and belold, there was a large hearing difference between the left and right ear. Now, the E/N/T doc has sent me for another MRI, basically to rule out a tumor and to see if he notices anything causing the hearing loss.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced hearing loss (without the fall) connected to cluster headaches?

Definetly not here. No hearing loss for me. I have been on this board a long time for several years and never heard of anyone losing hearing due to ch. My dear I pray it is nothing serious.

Get a second opinion! I'm no neurologist, but that just sounds wrong.

My primary doc isn't too worried about the infarction. If it was serious or he didn't do anything his eyes would be scratched out......I go out with his sister.

Ken,

My right ear is almost completely deaf.

I don't know what the exact cause is but I don't think I'd blame it on CH, although the hearing loss IS on the CH side of my head.

I have been a musician for over 30 years and I'm sure this has had a lot to do with it.

I also spent a lot of time working construcion around heavy equipment, operating stuff like jack hammers, etc...

I'm also not getting any younger.

Take a good look at the environment you are in on a regular basis and pay attention to the things that may have a constant noise level. The noise doesn't have to be at a very high level to cause damage if it is constant.

You'll most likely find that your hearing loss is environmental or age/heridity related.

I had my hearing tested YEARS ago and had some hearing loss in both ears, but mostly my left (I'm predominately a right side ch'er) I used to work in machine shops and factories and was not the best about wearing hearing protection, so I'm sure that's where my hearing loss is from. I really don't think hearing loss is related to ch.

But do follow up, I also think that anything coming up on an MRI should call for a second opinion, whether you know your doc personally or not. just my [smiley=twocents.gif]
