Title: Help, I am pregnant and in a cycle
Post by lilkjb on Mar 21st, 2005, 6:34pm
I am pregnant and in a cycle I usually do O2 and prednisone and Lithuim. I have a call into my Neuro . But he has not called me back yet. The O2 stopped working. Can anyone recommend a treatment safe in pregnancy?

Hello.  Not able to provide substantive help...but, I do hope that you get through this one real quick.  Then...GO DOWN AND SEE THE DOC AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND GET A BETTER HANDLE ON DEALING WITH CH AND THE LITTLE ONE.

I really cannot imagine what you must be going through. :(
LOL

Congratulations!:)

Please make sure you contact your neuro!!!!

As far as I know only 02 is safe for an abortive.....

but DO NOT STOP taking any prevents, if you are already taking them, until you speak to your neuro or your OBGYN. Sometimes the benefits out weigh the risk, but mostly stopping meds abruptly is not good unless given specific direction to do so.

sometimes pregnancy can give you a 9month PF break.

.....call the doc on call.....the sooner you get an answer the better....for you mind and you and your baby.

-please be well and PF

oh--ice or bag of frozen peas on you head/eye/back of neck helps a lot....

My first experience with CH was about 23 years ago while 3 mo pregnant.  Every single day for three months.  I know how awful it is.  At that time they didn't know as much and it was  ;;D and bear it.  They spontaneously stopped and didn't return for about 15 years.  I'm sure your neuro and/or OB will have ideas that weren't available to me.  I'll sure be praying for you.

Mine stopped during pregnancy but returned almost immediately after. Had to stop breast feeding cold turkey. I feel for you but do as the others say, get to a doc!

Best wishes for you and your baby!

I wouldn't be on any meds if it were me. JMHO

You CAN get through a cluster attack, hang in there, where here for you if you need us.

Wishing you PFDAN

I tried Accupunture yesterday and the funny thing I slept all night. Has anyone tried accupunture ? I was desperate I have another treatment today. I hope it works!!!

Sorry to hear you are going through this, especially being pregnant and can't take the meds that normally help you.

How were you using the O2?  Was it at 10 - 15 lpm through a non-rebreathing mask?  If not, try that.  Many who said O2 did not work or stopped working at lower flow rates and through different delivery systems found that this hellped them greatly.

Most, if not all who have posted here, who have tried accupuncture say it either didn't work at all or worked for a short period of time and then stopped working.  Whatever works for you is the key, though.  If it helps, I hope it continues to.

Here is a link to some non-prescription alternatives different people have used to help with the pain:

Since you are pregnant, I would suggest you talk with your doctor and/or pharmacist before taking any of the nutritional supplements.

Hope any of this helps you.  Good luck and keep us posted.
