Title: Re: re the earlier message accidental relief Post by Karla on Mar 14th, 2005, 9:50am Since you have found sucess with opiate use you may want to consider switching over to duragesic patch. It is an long lasting opiate that last for 72 hours and then you have to change the patch. It is very effective for me and a very small percentage of us here on the board. But it is better than taking the shorter term I would think. Ask your dr about it and see what he thinks. |

Title: Re: re the earlier message accidental relief Post by ozzy on Mar 14th, 2005, 11:03am I have taken Ultram. Does not touch CH. Shouldn't be mixed with alcohol at ALL!! That wasn't fun. I had half a beer. Full blown CH and felt like my blood pressure dropped significantly. All in the name of research.... ;;D Ozzy |

Title: Re: re the earlier message accidental relief Post by jokrs2 on Mar 14th, 2005, 12:16pm I have a hard time believing that any opioid will help with CH. After being addicted for the last 14 years and just completing my 6 day of total withdrawal, I can honestly tell you that it just created an additional problem that decreased breathing ability. Since people in here are having good to great results with o2 I would say that the additional difficulty presented by opiates to lung activity would & could worsen clusters & cause rebound headaches. I hope you find something NON-addicting. PFD&N's, Joe |

Title: Re: re the earlier message accidental relief Post by kimmeesue on Mar 16th, 2005, 4:48pm Two problems with Tramadol. One, it takes two hours to reach peak and you risk rebound. I use it, at suggestion of my neuro, when I know a killer is coming on to "take the edge off". Some times it works, some times not. But I disagree with the concensus that opioids are never the answer. As a chronic ch'r nubain and phenergan have been my salvation. No, they don't kill the monster but they take away a little of his power. Just as we ask others not to judge us we have to be careful not to judge each other. Rejoice when someone finds something...anything that works, even just once. As one who suffers almost every day a moment of relief is such a blessing. Peace to All |

Title: Re: re the earlier message accidental relief Post by jokrs2 on Mar 16th, 2005, 6:57pm I agree with Kimmeesue. I definitely didn't mean to offend or say anyone should not try or use whatever may help them as I may still need a shot of narc. or nasal lidocaine in the future. Thank God for creating the poppy plant. In my case the prolonged use became ineffective and it was making it hard to breathe. Again, my apologies. Joe |
