Title: Re: Help needed asap.... Post by Ellick on Mar 2nd, 2005, 9:14am Do you try to apply heat or cold to the area of pain. That can take out some of the sharper bits. Trouble is if you have'nt tried it the one that doesn't work has the opposite effect. You can have both hot and cold compress ready. It can help a lot when the epain level is high. Have you checked out using 02, that can work really well. BUT you need to read up on it because the way of using it and equipment are specific . You can find the info and support on OUCH UK. Was the nasal spray Imigran and was it 20mg? The 20mg works far better. Most people recommend the injections. I found sumatriptan (Imigran) made me feel rough. I have cut out all medication now and just use 02, it keeps Ch at bay for me, although it can be hardwork. Clusterbusters.com might interest you. There is lots of people on here who can give good advice about it and there is good practical help in the UK too. Fight it hard and check out all the info. At the moment there are some good results being reported from the use of Kudzu and clusterbusters.com method. Hope you get by it soon. Ellick. x |

Title: Re: Help needed asap.... Post by Karla on Mar 2nd, 2005, 12:43pm I found Maxalt mad my ch worse in intensity. I also found that amerge and frova which are suppose to last 12 hours only lasted 1 hr. Every medicine effects us differently. Tell your dr how long it took to kick in and take effect etc and that isn't acceptable to you. They ask to try the next drug in line. I would recommend imitrix injection, imitrix or zomig nasal spray as being some of the top of the line best defenses. Then if no luck there try in pill for midrin, axert, elavil, etc. because these will take an hr or so to kick in and stop the pain. The first ones stop the pain in 10 min or less. |

Title: Re: Help needed asap.... Post by Bob_Johnson on Mar 2nd, 2005, 4:04pm Injections generally work more consistently. Spray requires careful attention to technique and not squeezing the bottle too hard lest the spray go to your throat and bypass the nasal tissue. Spray will be blocked if you experience much nasal congestion as part of the attack. |

You mention taking the trex n/s at 1.00. I am taking this to mean 1:00am, because your post is at 8:54am. Did the headache go away, a single cluster attack wouldn't linger until morning, however, it has been common in the past for me to have them come back in two or three hours again through the night, getting three a night and again one in the morning. They are clusters and do come back... often. Check with doc, as Vig says, about prevents. And, as Bob mentioned, there's some technique to it's use to keep it from going straight down the throat. Try to use it up the nostril that is not on the cluster side. The CH side gets clogged preventing good absorbsion, then runs taking the trex out with it. Kevin M |
